Yes, my lovely daughter Julia is born.

The complete report is HERE.

As I had to choose what camera should I take to the hospital, my choices were: My new fancy Canon 40D dslr or the good old fashioned brick called R-D1s.

Of course, the R-D1s + Nokton 40mm did it!!!! Someday it will be Julia's birthday present. (by that time I hope I can afford a Leica M20)...

Enjoy it. (btw, wide angle shots at home are done with the 40D.)

Monkeypainter,

Congratulations! Both girls are truely beautiful. My favourite is the one taken on Dec 6th - wonderful!

Last night I scanned lots of my old OM1 shots of my twins (daughter and son) to make a DVD slide show. They are 21 on the 1st Jan, 2008. Time has travelled so fast - one moment they are your baby, the next young adults.

Today my wife sent the DVD over to Vancouver where my daughter India is working at present.

Don't waste a moment and stick a camera (and video) in her face every chance you get :) We cherish our baby photos now and marvel at the people they have become.

Thanks for sharing and all the best.

John

Congratulations. Your new life also has started with a new beautiful baby girl.

Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations! I don't think you need the advice to take lots of photos of the family. Make sure some are saved in a safe place too, such as a thumb drive in a lock box.

Hi Monkeypainter,

Just two words:

a) I envy you.

b) Forget all gear you have, and buy a TLR for baby level.

Cheers,
Ruben

Congratulations! and best wishes to the whole family in the New Year. I can only say that I wish I’d had the RD1 five years ago when my daughter was born :)

Holy smokes that was awesome! Truely and inspiration.

Good luck with the Baby, get ready for a whirlwind! Our baby Number 2 is due in January.

Ivan

Congrats!!! I second what Johnmcd said above (my daughter is 20). I hope that one day you can enjoy dad-daughter shoot-outs -- they're pretty neat!-

Congratulations!
Even though I live in an exciting big city and have a bunch of cool cameras, my two daughters are my favorite subjects.
Enjoy.
