Hello RF collective:

I had been holding out for a 28mm/2.8 Zeiss ZM at a good price point and finally ran across one at $550. The seller advised that the aperture had a few rough spots and I factored $50 to fix. Shipped it to Zeiss Germany and waited for the verdict.

Zeiss advised today that it was fixed under warranty and that it would not cost me one deutschmark. Bravo! Now I have a clean as new lens coming to me from the factory.

Anybody shot any fotos with 28mm Biogon lately or have any opinions? I am interested to hear.

[If anyone wants to get rude because I am asking this question, please take your meds and chill out. I am committed to working with this lens (for a while anyway) and simply asking user opinions/experience.]

The 28 Biogon is a great lens. I've been shooting it quite a bit lately, but have such a backlog of film to run that I haven't scanned in a while. I like the size of the lens also, similar in feeling to a 50/cron.
 
I've been shooting with mine for about a month now and really like it. The handling is very good. And the images have a crispness that I quite like. My only concern is always having to remember not to mount the lens on one of my back-to-back lens couplers because, of course, the rear element on the Biogon extends out beyond the mount. But I really like this lens. It makes a great partner to the 50 Planar.
 
The 28mm is one of my two lenses (its mate is the 50mm Sonnar). As stated already the biogon handles very well and the images are sharp edge to edge. It is also quite resistant to flare. I don't need anything else in a 28mm!

I've heard nothing but great things about the 28mm Biogon, I think Erik owns one now.

I have some work lined up over the next couple weeks so you might see a 21/2.8 Biogon in my stable soon.
 
Superb. Sharp, pleasant but not excessive contrast and can whoop most photographers unless they shoot lens test charts where some imperfections may be apparent 😀

Not as hot as the 25 or 21 on paper but in use stands perfectly next to my 35 biogon, 50 planar and 90 elmarit M.
 
I am also using a ZM28. No complaints, but so far Zeiss has never disappointed me in the Rolleiflex QBM series, the Contax C/Y series and now the ZM series. But so far mainly use for routine family shots and nothing really intesting to share yet.

I happen to like the lens. Previously owned Leica 28 V3 and Leica 28 V4 and 28/2.8 Asph. All were excellent. HOWEVER, it is not a lens I use alot thus I did not want a pricey example in my Domke, but wanted a good lens just the same. The Biogon fits that bill.

Its an amazing lens. Thanks for your insights.
