Fishy chips (EPSON 2200)

I've been pulling my jair out for a few days trying to get a good print out of my "new" Epson 2200. I tried several method of printing, including QTR for BW, and Epson's ICC's. All my printing has been on EEM with Eboni Black (matte) ink.

Today I realized that the empty cartridges I had bought to fill with MIS (inksupply.com) inks showed black as being PHOTO black :bang: . If all the prints I had made were made by a printer that "though" it had Photo black instead of Matte black, that would explain the less than stellar results.

My question is: how do I get my printer to understand it has Matte ink loaded and not Photo black? The empty cartridge kit I received only had 7 cartridges, which I believe is standard for empties on this printer, so how does everybody else swithch from Matte to Photo black on the 2200?
 
Are you using the apropriate ink cartridge? Epson cartridges are keyed in to the printer through contacts in the ink cartridges. Apparently, though I haven't used the inks you mention, the printer is picking up signals that the black cartridge is matte and not photo black. I wish I could help, but I use the OEM Epson cartridges and don't experience this problem. Hopefully someone here can help.
 
I'd send an email to inksupply.com and MIS - it could be an error on their part. Or it could be that they have profiles and settings which will solve the problems you are having.

If anybody has the same trouble, here the solution that I received on the QTR forum... I tried and it worked. It's not well documented in the Epson literature, so I'm posting this here for other confused souls:

settings, left click maintenance tab, left click printer and options
box (Bottom), put curser over black ink choice, then click okay.
Highlighted choice is what is in the printer. You are good to go
