Just got the case I ordered from Luigi for my Zeiss Ikon ZM. This is with the built in grip. Luigi said this was only the 2nd one he's made, so I thought you all might want to take a look. I think his cases with the grip are great as I have large hands, but to each his own.

That's interesting ... I also ordered a black grip case for my Ikon from Luigi a few weeks ago and it arrived today.

BUT ... it appears to be the wrong case. The camera fits in it OK but nothing really lines up. The viewfinder cutout is too far to the right and there is no cutout for the AE lock button. Also the camera is not quite as snug as I would have expected. However my Hexar RF seems to fit in it perfectly aside from the bulge that the RF has beneath the built up grip of the Luigi case, there is no recess for that bulge to fit into ... the Ikon is flat in this area. He seems to have made a case that doesn't quite fit either camera! :p

I've just sent him an email!!!!!

If they could just come up with an innovative way to change film while using a case, then i'd probably use one.

I load film way too often to be taking a camera in and out of a case. :\

Keith,
He probably sent you an M7 case - wait for him do do a check and do not stretch this one too much in the meantime... I am sure he will replace it right away... I use a grip case on the M7, because it is so heavy... it works out great this way.

Like JBF I like being able to change film more quickly.
I went with the Zeiss grip.

I can't quite work out what this case is supposed to fit ... the strap lug holes would be in the wrong place for the M7 but it's obvious that the eyepiece cutout is wrong for the Ikon. Also the camera is not so snug in the case as they usually are when new. Luigi has another case on the way to me and asked me to send him pics of the one he sent because I think even he is not sure what he has done! He seems to think that sending it back is not worthwhile ... due to the new communist government he says, and their import restrictions and taxes. :p

Keith,
Your's must have been the other case Luigi was talking about. As you can see, mine came out just the way it should. He might have sent a case for another camera. I ordered a case for a M3 with dog ears just after this order and it has not arrived yet, and was thinking it might be that one, but I ordered it w/o the grip, so I'm not sure.
Sorry it happened, but I'm sure it will get straightened out. He was hoping to get my ZM case out before Christmas, but it did not ship until the 28th, so he must have been busy, or full of Christmas Cheer!

That's interesting about the return policy. About 8 months back, Luigi mistakenly sent me a half case and strap for an m6. I brought it to his attention and he said to hold on to it until he got back with me. Have sent 2 e-mails since and gotten no response. I guess the return is more hassle than it's worth. In the meantime, I don't know what I should do with this case. Should I sell it and send Luigi the money or maybe donate it to the forum as a gift for a contest? Any suggestions? Luigi, if you're reading this, by all means chime in.

Regards,

Charlie

Thanks for the correction Joe. Being an old Leica Guy, you have to teach old dogs new tricks or in this case terminology
It is a very solid case and up to Luigi's quality standards. I like it alot. I've got a ZI Grip that came with the camera and will probably list it here if I feel I don't need it, which will probably be the case.

i just got the 'official' zeiss grip, it's ok.

i use my case in the winter only and the grip as soon as the case comes off. i don't care for the case in warmer temps.
