Every once in a while I wonder if an MP might make a good companion to my (CLA'd) DS M3, but every time I try 'em in store they just don't measure up in terms of construction or viewfinder. Its a conundrum... :D

...Mike

Word.

M3 is it :D

The natural second camera is another MP and I can't quite see your objection to this.
I agree. My personal preference would be a body with a different magnification but you cannot look beyond the MP once you already use one (and love it).

Um, how about film?
Film, to be sure. :) But that's in the category of operating supplies, like batteries. One might better say, "a lens!" but I believe the topic is a companion camera body...

I would be the best companion for a Leica MP. I am a very companionable camera person.

Plenty of exercise, lots of really good camera food, sometimes we'd get to be around naked people, travel to exotic places etc. etc.

I use an MP with a 35mm and an M3 with a 50mm. It's the perfect combination for me.

Yes I agree. It all depends on the type of photographs you take. If you have a regular MP (0,72 magnification) I would go for a M3 (+50 or +90).

I would chose M8 for color (or if you need high ISOand have a ISO 100 in the MP), and MP for b&W. Also with diferent lenses.

Doesn't the bar beneath your posts indicate that you already have an M5, MP and M8 plus 50mm & 90mm summicrons? If so, can't you decide?
My suggestion would be another MP with different finish ie chrome/ black/ black paint so that you know which one has colour film etc.
Otherwise get an M7 - works in both AE and manual modes.

Whatever you do, do not get a M2 and M3 to go with that MP!!! Seriously, do NOT do it. You would risk having a very lonely, shut-in MP.

~I jest only in part. For I find when I want to shoot a 35, I grab my M2. For a 50, my go-to body is a M3. That accounts for most of my image taking.

Bronica Rf645

Bronica Rf645

Bully:it's time to move on!!!

just buy a Bronica rf645 with 3 lenses (45/65/100mm) & flash!!!:D
You can find them listed on ebay NOW and they are cheap!!!
then buy 03x kodak epp 100 film
then buy 03x provia 400x film
then buy 03x delta 3200 film
then let us know what you think about it!:p

I guess it is also a matter of which type of combo lens you are... and if it matters to you, or if you are looking for 1 body to be loaded in color and the other in b/w...

My MP is seconded with Hexar AF... because of AE, and its 35/2...
This being said, a M8 could be tempting if I had the cash for it !

[...] Otherwise, take Sitemistic's advise. If the MP breaks, a beautiful woman and a beautiful car will ease your pain much better than another camera.

Ah yes, Sitemistic, those were the days. I'm surprised he didn't advise a 5D.

Vrolijk kerstfeest,

One year and one day later:

I have to thank you all for your replies and advices!

It´s been a long time since i wanted to give my MP another companion. And many of you saw the result in my signature:
in spring 2008 i decided to buy a M5. It is a very unique camera and a beauty of her own. To work with her is a real pleasure for my heart and the heavy weight (700g) is perfectly ballanced in my hands. It was a decision of heart...

Later in summer i took the chance to buy a M8. And this activated much more interest in the M-System. I learn with the M8 and take these experiences when i take the MP or M5.

Again thank you all!
I wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year!
