I just received a Yashica 35CC from an auction and the cosmetic shape is good but there is a problem that I can’t figure out. I knew that the camera had a problem when I bid on it but I thought is was the ”pad of death” that I have fixed before in a GT using the "surgery" method. When I took the top off of the CC, surprise, it is not the same as a GS/GSN etc.
I installed a fresh battery just to rule out the battery. Here are the symptoms:
The battery check lights up but the shutter only fires at the highest speed like on a GSN with a bad pad.
The meter arrows light up but they are very finicky, you have to get the shutter button in just the right spot. I checked the battery compartment and it is very clean and I checked the bottom of the camera too. This is where I wonder if the problem lies. There are some brown wires soldered together in a suspicious poorly done manner.
1) I read on another post that the CC model has the same Pad. I know where it is on the GS/GSN series but I can’t see it on the CC. Can anyone point me in the right direction or does the surgery method not apply here?
2) Any other ideas based on the description of the problem?
3) What would make the arrow lights functional but intermittent?
It would be helpful to hear from someone that has done the POD replacement on a CC.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Don't know where POD in CC lies, but intermittent lights most probably are caused by bad contact (oxydization, mechanical issues ?). I'd resolder those suspicious looking points on brown wire you mention - just to exclude cold solder.

There is no easy shortcut to replacing the POD in a 35CC.
Top and bottom come off.
Leatherette comes off.
Entire front lens plate comes off. But no wires are disconnected.
POD is same as for other Yashica electric shutters.
Post a photo of the circuit board where the brown wires are located.

CC lights need you to get used to, because they only light at a certain part of the shutter trip.
I also have a CC that I fixed at home, the problem on mine was on the shutter mechanism around the front lens... It is easy to get there... Simply remove the first retaining ring, and dig inside...
Cant be very specific because english is not my native language...
Good luck!

the 35CC circuit board
the 35CC circuit board
Here is the circuit board. My concern is that there is a brown wire that has a soldered bridge between two different contacts on the board. They are right next to each other so either it is intentional or sloppy work. I would have thought that they were two discrete contacts? terminals?
Does this looked normal or klugy?

Those two points are connected. It's a pretty crummy solder job. It looks like they resoldered a lot of stuff on there.

yikes. definitely looks like some shabby aftermarket deal. that looks mostly like glue rather than a solder burn, but if that's custom, then a number of possibilities open up, maybe even a component or two could have lost their magic smoke due to a shabby wiring/soldering job :/
