For those who want to see it, the movie is available in chunks of 100Mb or as a full archive. It's actually called "L'amour tout court" in French.
Teus is kindly hosting the files on what can only be a much better service compare to what I started with, so thank you Teus. I really like this spirit of community =)
The recording is of fairly good quality, from a VHS tape, subtitled in English.
This is the link where to get the split files from:
http://photography.mayulive.com/movies/plainlove_split/
and this link is to the full archive:
http://photography.mayulive.com/movies/just_plain_love.avi
______________________________________________________
To put back together the split files, if you use Mac or Unix, just open a shell and do:
cat just_plain_love_part*.avi >> just_plain_love.avi
for windows, I can't confirm that this works since I can't test it myself, so make copies of your files before you experiment. You need access to an ms-dos prompt and then do:
copy just_plain_love_part1.avi+just_plain_love_part2.avi just_plain_love.avi
and so on....

And of course don't forget to check out "Contacts", so you can get a "larger" idea:

I downloaded the file and it wont play with quicktime or vlc.
With quick time I get a weird error that its not a movie file (even though it says its a .avi). In VLC, it will kind of play super choppy for 1 second and shoot a bunch of errors.
When I download the movie by parts, only the first part works, the rest give me the same error.
What is this "shell" thing you are talking about?

nikoy3: Same problem here. Neither QT (which I sort of expected) nor VLC (which I didn't expect, since it plays damn near everything I've thrown at it) will play it right.

OK thanks for letting me know, I was also unable to play the full file....
Since you're asking about the shell, I take it that you must be using Mac or Unix, this doesn't apply to Windows OS.
What I mean by a shell is a command line interface, something that looks like this:

Guys, there was a problem with the file and it has been fixed, I tested it myself with Mplayer and is working fine. Sorry about this...

chikne: All is good now. Download went well, burned a DVD to watch on the ol' TV (I next to never use it otherwise). Well worth the effort, and I encourage as many as possible to check this one out. Major kudos!

Thank you, Chikne and Teus! The download went well overnight and the movie plays beautifully for me (using the Kaffeine player on SUSE 10.2 with added codecs). It looks like a lovely film and I look forward to watching it all soon.

Thanks very much for posting the link “Just Plain Love.” This film gave rise to thoughts I have not had in regard to Art for a long time. The filmmaker is very sensitive to the fact that all Art comes from the same source, and whether we are photographing, painting or what have you, it is all about letting go, becoming receptive, and allowing the self to step back for a minute. The ideas conveyed reminded me why Art is not a good companion to fame-seeking, money making, or competition.
This film also aroused in me memories of a time when my Photography had much more energy to it. As with any Art, there is a period of learning in which technical inability gets in the way of expression, and we spend a lot of time just trying to sort things out, primarily imitating and emulating. For me, once over the learning curve, I experienced several wonderful years where I was making images that excited me, and reflected the life that inspired me to take them. I think it was this way because I had not yet begun to take myself so seriously, and I was not trying to “force” creativity so much. It was the perfect balance for me.
I have continued to progress in some ways, but lately, my excitement level has been very low – I have been unable to find inspiration, and as a result I have noticed my images getting more and more boring, although still technically acceptable. After watching this film, I was reminded that one needs to not over-think Photography when it comes to Art. I had become preoccupied with getting the right camera and lenses, with trying to shoot along thematic lines, and admittedly, with marketing my work. This has led to a palpable depression, and it wasn’t until I listened to Cartier Bresson say “if you want it, it doesn’t happen” or something along those lines, that I remembered the formula for my earlier happiness with the camera. It’s so simple and true – this is why when one plans and plans and gets all their ducks in a row, produces immaculate images crafted with the highest skill, one can still produce images that fall well short of having any real depth or meaning, which is the paramount concern of Art photography in my opinion
So anyway, thanks again for posting that link – I really enjoyed viewing the film!

I stumbled on this old thread and thought that it would at least not hurt to link to the whole documentary on youtube here, for those who have not seen it or would like to again. I don't know who uploaded it, in any case it wasn't me, I just found it there. Enough chit chat, here's the link:

Terrific documentary, although I don't buy for one second that 'Behind the Gare St-Lazare' was pure luck. It's too perfect for that.
