This may have been covered before and if so I apologize but I couldn't find anything doing a quick search. I've just received a very clean Canon Model P body that appears to need a CLA. The shutter caps at 1/1000th and when set to "B" sometimes works properly and sometimes appears to fire at about 1/60th. I'm looking for recommendations for technicians/firms that are familiar with servicing these cameras. Could you please share your experiences? Thanks,
Rick

Well-known
Mark Hama did mine last year and made a beautiful job of it. The slow speeds were sticky as hell, but they came back perfect and the whole camera is just as smooth as silk now. Mark was great to deal with as well.

"Flim? You want flim?"
Mark did work for me on 2 Yashicas, for which he is known. The work was faultless and speedy. But not inexpensive.

Mark Hama did the CLA on my P as well, in 2006. It took him a long time (he had the camera for close to 5 mos.), I had to send it back to him once to fix the film advance which still squeeked (he did), and I also found him rather uncommunicative. Obviously, others have had better experiences. At the end of the day, however, the P (finally) came back in great condition, so I'm satisfied. The camera is now as quiet as an M2, and I chalk that up to Hama's work on it.
Don Goldberg (DAG) also works on Canon Ps, and did a repair of the optic on mine that came loose. Really excellent work, and a faster turnaround. I highly recommend him.
