Carnival Photos

Late afternoon here on Carnival Day.

I've got some photos to be developed tomorrow, and hope to get some more this evening.

How's it going where you are?

We have our carnival in November (largest outdoor illuminated carnival in Europe, maybe the world) so for now it is just pancakes.. and more pancakes .. and more...

The weather here wasn't great for shooting photos of the parade. :(

I did not want to risk my camera. I got some snaps with digicam, but those photos just aren't the same :(

I did have plenty of fun & drinks though. :D

Well, it was raining quite a bit here in Cologne and I got soaking wet. Fortunately my M8 did not care and functioned with no problems.

I can tell from your pictures! Wonderfully crisp.

I'll see about uploading some of those snapshots tomorrow.

Hello
I was intending to photograph last Fat Tuesday street parade, but the people passing by proved to be much more interesting than the parade itself.

Cameras: Fed-2 + Jupiter 8 (some flare...), Fed-5+ Jupiter 8, films Fomapan200 developed in paRodinal and Kodak Gold 200 (of doubtful age) developed at a 1-hour lab. Films scanned at home with a DiMage Scan Dual IV, cropped and dust removed with PhotofiltreStudio.
Criticisms and comments welcome
Best regards

Our carnival celebrations will end next Saturday Feb. 9, with a parade in my village (I will play with the windband, and I will also take pictures!). However I was in another village last weekend for another carnival parade: the film will be developed soon, and I hope to get interesting photos.
In Piedmont - not far from my village - it is a tradition to serve a hot soup with beans-vegetables-sausages on the carnival day: as you can guess, it has a dangerous effect on the guts! But it is Carnival, so let's smile!
I will be back soon with some pictures.
Ciao!

Mauro:

I'd like to see a photo of you playing a musical instrument and taking photos at the same time.

Look forward to seeing the results.

These are people from the local fire and rescue service.

The day before a man and two children died in a car crash on the highway near here.

These people may have been present to attend to the woman and a child who survived.

I like the photo of the kid in a Chinese dress and with a rather dour-looking mother.

Most of the kids did not look so amused, and the grow-ups with them were also not so happy. I have been away from these Canival parades since many years ago, but I found that this is a good opportunity for photographing people - no negative reactions to my photos, even at close distance.

Yes, when people dress up they 'expect' to be noticed, and photographed.

I was in Loule (where I think you made your photos) about a year ago and saw how many tourists photographed the market sellers then went to the supermarket for their shopping. I bought fresh sardines at the market and took them back to my holiday place and grilled them.

No the photos were made in Almada, where I live

Joao, I agree with Jon about your photo of the girl in her Japanese dress and the dour mother. Lovely colours!

A couple from New Orleans. Not rangefinder, just point-n-shoots from my wife's C-Lux. We had fun this year.
