I've got what I think is the second-to-last brand new Summilux 75mm in Europe on order, and I was curious if anyone here has any experience with this beast, particularly on an M8. OK, I probably should have asked this before ordering it. :)

One thing that I'm interesting in experimenting with is IR photography. Has anyone tried it for this?

Incidentally, if anyone's looking, Foto Lambertin (in Cologne) have got what's possibly the last unused example of this lens in Europe in stock. It's not 6-bit encoded, but they can get it done.

Thanks,

Graeme

I have the lens but as opposed to the Noctilux, 35 summilux pre-asph and 5cm summarit-M, I fail to see its character as straightforward as the other 3 I just named. I will express a firm opinion on this lens once I'll understand it thoroughly.
So far, I love what I see from it, but the same goes for just about any good lens...

I still think it's a very sexy lens :)

I love mine. I foolishy considered selling it this weekend before coming to my senses.
I do find it much easier to focus on the M8 with a 1.25 magnifier, which I leave permanently on my camera. It's not the fastest lens to focus, but it can be well worth the effort and weight.

Well, it is sharp as heck and very large!

I find it to be more on a selective normal on a M6 than a telephoto and only became really happy with it when I acquired a brightline external finder.
It should be a fine equivalent to a 90-100 on your M8.
