Leica does not discard to send an M of complete format, but the lived one in Leica maintains the Truculenta incognito history during the last weeks. After the exit of its chief of a main directorate by declarations in which it gave by fact that Leica would present/display in Photokina a version of the M8 with a sensor full-frame, now the company/signature clarifies those plans. OR, track down the original Spanish on the website I mentioned and read the original.
It'll become pretty clear if you wade through the Babelfish.

It looks like you drank those six beers that you mention, before you started this thread.
the original posting in a "Lingua Incognitia".
why bother?
Was Mr. Lee a Klingon or something?

xayraa33, sorry you're unhappy.
I think it says there's no full frame pending for M-8 users, hints there never was...and suggests Lee talked too much without considering the impact on current M8 sales .
Personally, I doubt Leica's anywhere near able to make a full frame rangefinder, much less refurbish M8s, and Lee may not have understood how technically and financially ridiculous that idea was when he joined. As well, it'll be easier to sell the company without expensive executives.

We will live with the dream of a full frame digital rangefinder camera.
Life goes on.
Maybe some other firm will make this come true.

See Sigma DP1. Bright frame optical viewfinder, autofocus, allegedly rivals 5D and D300 except for it's one 28mm equivalent lens: A $1000 digital Hexar AF rather than $5000 digital M.

Browse rangefinderforum using Sigma to find the link that compares DP1 and 5D, side-by-side.

With an f/4.0 lens it hardly rivals my 5D with a 35/1.4 or better the 50/1.0.
What utter nonsense. That f/4.0 lens made the DP1 DOA for serious street shooters.

Yes, 5D surely must be superior to DP1 early claims, except for its price and size, and the fact that it's an SLR.
...and some folks obviously do like big, expensive SLRs....
Color detail resolution and noise seem to directly rival 5D, beat D300 and lesser Canons. We'll see what others say, once this thing is actually delivered. I won't know directly because I won't own a 5D or D300.

I don't think anybody's suggested DP1 will replace 5D, just that it's sensor seems to be as good ("rivals"). Sorry to confuse you

..in any case, 5D isn't going to remain Canon's full frame prosumer through 2008.
A better comparison would be to full frame 24mp Sony, especially since neither DP1 nor Sony A900 (full frame) seem to be in anybody's hands as yet
