Apologies if this has already been flagged up but there's a new Leica specialist in London called "Red Dot Cameras". It's on Old Street (on the left hand side about 400 metres from Old St tube station as you walk towards barbican).

Apparently, Ivor (the principal) has been selling Leicas in London for many years and has recently decided to go it alone.
Lovely shop and a really friendly service. Incidentally, I'm not on commission and he's not a friend or relative. Just thought I'd mention it if anyone's looking for an alternative specialist outlet.

I've seen the adverts for this, so you've been inside? Is it chi-chi? Or could a haggard bloke go in looking for a cheap IROOA hood / summitar filters / other cheap junk?
In any case, I'm sure it'll be better than the other Leica shop near the British Museum (Pied Bull Yard?).

I walked past it the other day (it's fairly close to where I work). No window display, but a big red sofa in the window. It all looked very upmarket and posh to me, although as it's a Leica shop that's probably the ambience to go for!

They were very friendly when I went in a couple of weeks ago. They do have a few bits and pieces that are reasonably priced but most of it is good-mint condition with price to match.
Though Richard Caplan ("where the elite meet and greet") are in ultra-posh St James's I have found more scruffy user gear there than almost anywhere else, reasonably priced too.

He use to work at "the classic camera" in central London and wasn't very friendly back then. Now he's opened a shop right around the corner of the Magnum print room ^^

Yeah I've been in. Ivor is nice, and could talk for England. He's also offering CLA services etc, so I may well put a lens in for CLA (he quoted me £80+VAT).
There's not a huge amount of stock, and most of his cabinets are given over to displaying new stuff. I will pop back periodically I think.

Seems the second hand stock situation has improved somewhat. I picked up a nice lens there today. It's lethal for me, a Leica shop within walking distance of my office...
