hello
i was wondering why sometimes when i scan certain bw films, noticably era 100 but not limited to, it doesnt scan...
i load the film in, thumbnail preview, then press scan button, it says cant load film, press ok to unlock adapter, and then i cant eject the film or anything, which means i need to turn it on and off again.....
does anyone know what is wrong with it? is it a problem with the film? or the scanner itself?

I don't have exactly your problem (or your scanner or your software), but when I'm using my Coolscan 5000 and Vuescan, the scanner will sometimes be fussy if I haven't cut the strip exactly between the sprockets. If and when this happens, I usually eject the film (ctrl-J in Vuescan) and turn it around to scan backwards.

Have the same scanner as you, but can't say I ever saw this problem. Had a strip that got stuck once though, had to disassemble the neg carrier. But this has happened only once.

Had the same problem scanning old b/w film with my CS V. Check the film perforation first: you will see that some films have a different perforation pattern on top of the image. Ususally top and bottom pattern are same, but not for all films. Turn the film by 180 deg and insert again should solve the problem.
