International Rangefinder Day

Sounds like a Hallmark opportunity to me! I like it better than bosses day, so anyone write a card or something?

Yay! I'm taking the day off work to fondle rangefinders! :) Thanks for the link, Michael.

My question, too, Rover -- who is organizing this? Is it legitimate?

Seems slightly whiffy to me, but I can't see the catch? Copyright?

Regards,

Bill

This started in a flickr group. "Telemetricas y algunas", a Spanish rangefinder users group. We thought it would be a good idea to dedicate a day to rangefinders, after all, there is a "bring your box camera to work day" a "pinhole day" a "darkroom day" so, why not a rangefinder day?.

It's not clearly stated in the website, I know, but photographers will, of course, keep the copyright of their pics.

We don't want to make ANY profit out of this, we (like girls) just to have fun and, maybe, just maybe, get someone new interested in rangefinder cameras. That's all.

Cheers,

I see it as a good excuse to get out and do some concentrated shooting with RF's. I like the idea. Simple, honest fun, and a good use of the Internet. I'll be out tomorrow with some RF gear.

Well, I received a 55mm filter for my new Elmarit 135 lens, so I loaded one of my cameras and step out to the backyard with my cats. Lots of qte pics today! Of course, all in B&W (not enough time to unfreeze a roll of slide film).

So, I did my bit for World Film Photography Day. ;)

Well my 15mm Heliar came just in time for today. So I went out to do some test shots with this lens. A very nice day out here in south jersey.

I went out with an M7 and an Olympus XA -- both with b&w... good reason to spend several hours taking pictures... thanks Kralefski, for the background info...

Thursday was "Film Day", Friday was "Rangefinder Day".

Film Day- Leica M3, Canonet Ql17, Canon P.
Rangefinder Day- Canon VI-T, Nikon SP, Polaroid 180.

Maybe some day will be "Digital SLR Day" and I'll spin up the Disk Drive on the Kodak DCS200.
