Canon LTM Prices on Canon 50mm f0.95 getting stratospheric

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
There will always be deals for the patient, Tom! :)

Yes, I waited a long while to get a Mint/Minus Canon f1.4 for $200 - but it happened too ;)

I`m also looking for a Canon f1.2 (under $400) and a f2.0 100mm for about that price - sooner or later they will turn up and I think that the 100mm is rarer than the f0.95 in a production numbers sense of the word

Tom

Tom, at those prices, you have to be patient, optimistic and lucky!

Good luck on your quest

Thank You Sir! :)

Hehehehe the Ole German collectors in Franklfurt back in the late 1980`s used to call me Gluckspiltz (sp) or the "Lucky Mushroom" because I always found really strange stuff for below collector prices (not cheap/but at like 50% to 60% less then the collectors specs in their little guessbooks.....)

I`ve had a lucky week this week I think........ I just found a very clean 1936 Leitz Xenon
(after a long many years search - Thanks Mark!)
.....and I just won on evilbay a strange 1945 Leica IIIC "Stepper" to IIIFBD conversion, which will now more than likely now become my everyday shooter after a full CLA and an dded IIIG spring loaded or Canon "pop-up" spool - this will be my "up close and personal" screwmount camera

As the old saying goes, it`s better to stop while your ahead, so it`s time now to get back into some of my serious PinUp Girl shooting

That is a nice looking rig - I have a mint 0.95 with box and other accessories - but my 7 is a user with broke meter! So, of course I'll the bidding for that one to Hacker...

I now have two 50mms. I'm still deciding whether to get this one. GDI, you must sell me your Mint lens, not the one that is near Mint.

PS: I may have a Canon 7 that you might want for the working meter.

what canon RF items do you own? seems you have a little of everything.

Who knows - it may go soon, the near mint one is now converted, but needs the focusing sorted out. The combo of the 7/7S and 0.95 is great, but I have accumulated more than I use and I'm not much on collecting and not using...

That 7/f0.95 combo on evilbay sold for a little over $2k - a little steep I think

True, it was in the original box which was unique, (just stuff for collectors) but at that price, it should have been a 7sz or at least a 7s

A 7 is worth maybe $250 tops.........but, over $1,700 for a f0.95 that`s ridiculous -
I wonder if that camera/lens combo will ever see a roll of film? - Doubtful :(

I just might settle with a "minty" Canon f1.2 50mm.......it`s a pleasing lens which has a better look at f1.4 than the Canon f1.4 does
(I just sold my Mint Canon f1.4 two weeks ago)

I`m currently working with a FD Mount f1.4 50mm on my trusty old Vietnam era Canon F-1 Mech which is the same lens formula anyway

That little extra speed wide open (F1.2) I think would be enough for the vintage style work I do and another perfect lens for the Canon 7s that I sometimes use

The f0.95 could be considered somewhat "overkill" - BUT it`s all about the art the Bokeh gives I think that makes it so attractive to some people and it`s all about looks too....the lens looks great on a 7s or a 7sz BUT, even craizer on those M Leicas and RD-1`s -

I know someone who has one mounted on a Leica CL now and that looks

"out of control" :D lol!!!!!

I always have this question to ask.. 0.95, 1, 1.2, 1.4 and so on...
In terms of Bokeh, I understand its quite a fair bit from 2.8 to 1.4, but anyone here can enlighten on the difference from 1.5 and a 0.95? Will it be a hell lot of difference on a 35 film? I'm deciding between a zeiss 50 1,5 or a canon dream lens. HELP

anyone want to sell me their .95? converted or not?
I had one lined up but something happened, not a good thing.
needless to say im more than ever wanting one of these lenses.

thanks!

erik,

the 1.2's bokeh is lauded all over the net.... see here for example

I think the added aperture size of the .95 lens produces more swirls than the 1.2, but then again, if you are using either lens without full frame output, you'd be shooting with the mid sections of both lenses where edge effects are cropped off...
