After one year on the road i'm back in London.

After crossing Russia to China and then the States to Guatemala I can safely say the only thing that didn't let me down was the Leica M6. What a wonderful piece of kit. I was surprise going round the world how many people still prefer film over digital which was a nice change.

Now I have 1800 slides to review and scan ready to see if i can make some money for charity by having an exhibition and you are all invited 🙂 what would be the best way to display slides at an exhibition do you think?

I need a really good scanner, anyone recommend one? Budget is about $2000

Hope all is well in the land of RFF

Sam

A projector...

You could augment it it with some music, which I have seen done.
In fact all the presentation that I have seen from a projector have been good.
Some good stories (and BS) are the most important part from what I recall.

Your photos look good - so with some stories... you should have a winning combo.

if it's about exhibition, you could install several slide projectors.
They are not that expensive second hand nowadays. You don't need the highest quality.

If you want to scan them in real good quality, you could also print, indeed, and hang the prints. But it's less impressive.

PS Sam - great photos by the way - look forward to seeing others. As to projecting - remember to project dupes not originals. Even E6 film fades with frequent projection, tho' not as quickly as Kodachromes

I like that middle image. Great color and interesting composition. Did you use Velvia?

Hi Jeff, The middle photo was taken Provia 100F. I only took them for colour and for B&W I took Neopan 400 and Ilford 100

Thanks, i'm swaying towards the 35mm Nikon Scanner now. I'm guessing it doesn't bring out the colours like looking at them on a slide projector tho.

I shall post some more up for you guy, there are a lot to go through. In Fact maybe some of you could help me choose which ones are worthy of putting in a gallery.

Cheers

Oh go on, here are a few more unedited shots for you lot.

Shouldn't that be the other way round ? Kodachomes have lasted better than my older E6 or Agfachromes. I do definitely agree that you will be wise to use duplicates for any work you do with the slides though. Having an accident, or loss of some other sort, with an irreplaceable and money-earning transparency is something to avoid.

Well done for all the planning and hard work, and the pictures 🙂

WOW you can see I'm a newbie to film, i never knew you could make duplicates of slides. Sorry if that sounds a bit blonde.

I must say i'm glad I shot colour slides, I've never seen colours like it... well not on the computer anyway!
