I wish we could tell the aperture on those, and where the focus point should be, since that seems to be the biggest contention around this lens. Some of those seem very sharp, others a lot less so. What do you think of it so far?

If you point to a specific photo, I'd be glad to tell you where I was focusing. All of those posted are in focus where I focused at.
I realize that focusing close up at f1.5 into a bush or flowers at different distances can give the impression that it's not focusing right, but it is.
There were a couple in the batch that were out of focus, due to my error, and I didn't post them.
I like the lens a lot, at dusk and and wide open it does very well. It's not overly sharp or contrasty, and for me, the focus is spot on with the RD1.
It's not a Cron or Lux, but it does have it's own way of painting things.
