Rats!

Been trying to f ind his website but no luck, yet!

Seems he is located in Great Britain and he uses Leica (M8?) exclusively with fantastic images! Who was that?:bang:

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

There is Jeff Ascough http://www.jeffascough.net/ he used to shoot only Ms but has since switched to Canons. He still uses an M8 for his personal work. Not sure if he is the guy you mean but his work is amazing and he has been featured on the Masters of Wedding Photography DVD.

Cheers

Mark

Jeff is currently using Canon 1DsMarkIIs for weddings. He only uses the M8 for his personal work. He does amazing work regardless of the camera he is using.

Cheers,

Jeff is one of my heroes. I wish I could create such are while doing weddings...Mine are solid, but only solid. sigh.

Didn't Jeff send back his M8's after trying to use them?
I recall seeing a thread over at the DWF that had the "green blob" in them.

Dave

I think you are referring to a Mr Cooke in the UK. I can not remember his first name.
he does (or did) use M8 and posted a few times here, but also used an SLR along side.

Sem - I am humbled to have my name mentioned alongside such amazing talent. BTW, both of them were voted among the Top 10 Best Wedding Photographers in the world by American Photo Magazine (Jeff took the honor last year and Andrew made this year's list).

FYI - All the work on my site with the exception of the Georgia engagement session gallery was done with M7s and M8s.

Thanks,

I would have loved to have seen what Jeff could have done @ weddings with an M8.. it's too bad he doesn't feel confident in using them in that capacity yet.

I am amazed at anyone who can shoot weddings with an RF successfully, and have a business thrive on such.

I guess I can always practice "slowly" as I continue with my Canon gear too..

I was looking forward to his M8 work once he told me he was going to use them for this year's weddings, but totally understand his frustration and hesitation to use them after seeing the green streak on his first shots out of the camera.

I have been fortunate to not have any major issues with my M8s (have four now) and also have the support of Leica where they take great care of me whenever I needed a lens to try, equipment loaner or rush repair (only needed twice, once for an M8 that was not taking a firmware update and another one that needed to be adjusted to correct a slight backfocus)

Definitely practice slowly, that's exactly what I did.

Cheers,

Riccis, I'm sure I've told you this before but I absolutely love your work.
Everyone I've shown it too has been blown away as well.
It's photographers like you that keep pushing me to get better.

*Wipes dirt off nose*
But I think thanks should be given where credit is due.

Ya.. I concur.

Having read what I have in this month's Rangefinder (errr.. last months) the whole concept of a "date for three" makes a lot of sense..

Kudos on a good article Riccis !

Having been fortunate enough to have attended a Jef Ascough seminar I think Jeff has two issues with using the M8 for commercial work

a) They only have a single card. Jeff is very insistent on shooting with a two card camera, image security not card capacity bring the issue.

b) The M8 files do not respond too well to his "actions" set. He uses CS3 for the commercial work (after opening the raw in C1) although I understand he is/was working on a Leica set. Some of his recent personal work was done on Aperture ISTR but that may be wrong.
