I'm interested in a Luigi case for my R-D1s. Plus, I also had a customizing question. After emailing him a few times with no response, I'm wondering if all is well in Italy?
Has anyone received an email reply for him lately? I'm nervous about sending money to someone that doesn't answer emails. Mind you I've only heard good things about him, and I'm sure he is quite busy.

everything is temporary..
I think he's very busy. I ordered 2 stainless steel soft releases for my Ms and he didn't answer any e-mails in a timely manner. It took up to a month for them to arrive. He mentioned something about being bogged down with lots of work.

I last heard from Luigi about a month ago when I bought a case from him, and he responded promptly at the time.
Also, I don't think you can send him money without communicating first, can you? I know I had to get in touch with him for him to tell me where to send the money - he has different PayPal addresses if your payment is funded by a bank account or a credit card.

Luigi emailed me last on March 26th informing me that my order was shipped out that day. He definitely is a trustworthy gentleman.
I bet he is just swamped with orders, or maybe on a much deserved vacation.

I had an email exchange with Luigi yesterday evening. His responses were very prompt and everything seemed fine. This is the third time that I have ordered from him. In your place, I wouldn't have any hesitation in sending him the money for your order.

He just emailed me back for an inquiry I had on Sunday, he asked me to send him another email if he didnt respond by mid week. (I think he is really busy)

I just sent Luigi three emails over a period of a week, and not a single response. I guess I just have to wait based on his explanation.

Last week I exchanged several emails with Luigi. He responded promptly and was extremely courteous. I ordered a full case with deluxe strap and he was kind enough to hold off on shipping so that my case would arrive after I return from a trip. While I've not received the order -- won't until late next week / the following -- I'm more than comfortable with the arrangement and paying him in advance.

Sometimes he answers fast and sometimes slow-no need to worry. The Rolleiflex strap that I received from Luigi last month is beautiful and perfect for using with the camera.

Sadly we live in an instant-gratification society. I am reminded of my grandmother who regarded a ringing telephone as a request to answer, not an obligation. Luigi is a gentleman of the old school and always honours his commitments in my experience.

Not only did I hear from Luigi, he also sent me the most BEAUTIFUL fox case with strap for my R-D1s. His communication was excellent, his shipping fast and the quality, well, it's to die for.
Originally I was put off by the price of Luigi's cases. But, with one in-hand, I now feel foolish. It was / is worth every cent I paid. I'm quite pleased and would encourage anyone looking for a case to check these out.
I bought my R-D1s recently and immediately got the OEM Epson case but I wasn't happy with it. Not that it's bad, it just strike me as something that would suit my needs. Now, with my Luigi, I'm going to sell off the Epson OEM case.

I agree with BillP, we're a click-and-buy culture.
These cases are (thankfully) not churned out mass-market by a machine, so in my mind it was worth the wait knowing my case was being 'crafted' by a person and not a robot (I bought a half-case with the rear-door patch, and a matching strap).
To his credit, Luigi only corresponded with me once or twice and took a bit of time getting back, so I trusted the feedback of the membership here and I'm happy I did.
I kept my RD1 in a lowepro bag when bringing it around, and waited for my leather case; find a quick inexpensive solution to tide you over - the wait is worth it.
