Some time ago, on a nice day I stopped at a storefront with my M4P in my right hand. I was waiting for my wife while she was shopping. Then a guy with a bicycle asked me if I was holding a M4. I told him "No, I'm holding a M4P". He told me he had many Ms, he gave me his card and he left. All this lasted 5 seconds.

He was a human being, he wore glasses. He was probably a canadian. He looked very normal. Y'know, a nose, two eyes, a mouth. Two hands. And yes, two legs and feet.

I know, super boring story.

But since he was a Leica user I thought some of you, Human beings and Leica users around the Globe, would appreciate to see pictures done with a Leica, for a change.

I've put a shortcut on my desktop and will spend a lot more time browsing his site later tonight ... these are really good.

I've just perused the Marylin Munro pics and his editorial of how they came about ... fascinating stuff. My god she was gorgeous!
 
Ned I'm glad you reposted this. Zimbels work is fantastic. I hope to catch up on his blog as well. I bet now you wish you would have spent more time talking with him. I know I would have.

Really ? That's for sure why the photos featuring Lee Harvey Oswald playing around with his Mannlicher-Carcano in his garden have of course not been "manipulated"... 🙄

How disappointing... I mean many of his shots aren't sharp at all. I guess he wasn't using very good lenses, or maybe he didn't know that some lenses have focus shifts. And how come there's so much grain anyway? He needs Noise Ninja or something.

Seriously, I was happy to find his work again. These photographs are amazing. They are a joy to view and study. Thanks for the inspiration.
 
It's interesting reading what he says about the huge amount of unprinted material he has and that he just keeps getting further behind as time passes. Also the comment that he's noticed his rate of taking photographs has accelerated as he gets older.
 
I don't get the sense of the sentence. Why would I meet a Second photographer and what would that specifically mean?

Do you mean I might meet a photographer instead of a simple Human being that happens to be a canadian and that happens to be riding a bike with his two legs?

Fred, I don't understand your communication. What does it mean that I might someday meet a second photographer? You're trying to tell me something and I have no idea what it is. Be clear.
