Hello!
So far I have not seen any foto taken with a Noctilux at open aperture that has said "Uum , I`m well-worth the effort and the extra expense!" Or ,- " Just look at me!"

I don`t bother nice young women or girls being presented in subdued light, but where`s the beef you can`t pick up with a lux?
Or even an old Summitar`?
Where are the shots taken by real talents? (Cant think of the contributor here at the moment from last LFI-edition,- seems to be the only guy around taking the challenge!)
Best regards

Lenses don't take pictures. People do.

How delicious a picture turns out depends on the photographer.

However, lenses do render pictures differently, and the Noct has a unique look, diffferent from a Cron or a Lux. And it also has a lot less DOF at F1, something else the other lenses don't.

You can always argue that you can push your film with a Lux and that's a choice. However, pushing film creates compromises in contrast and shadow detail, not to mention grain.

Thanks for mentioning me... but really, there are some fantastic Noctilux images posted in the thread Noctilux shots thread. The latest ones are great.
And I don't think this is the last Noctilux thread as I firmly plan on continuing the Noctilux shots thread for quite some time to come. And since Maddoc and others have a Noctilux, watch out that thread for more gems.

🙂

Don't forget that the f1.0 aperature can help you keep your shutter speed up. Even vibration reduction and image stabilisation won't help much if your subject is moving. I won't deny that the Noctilux is way too expensive now. I was lucky to get mine when it was much cheaper. It's a wonderful lens to have available.

When I first began taking pictures, I was all about low light photography because I didn't know any better. Needless to say, I'm sure that all of you know that shooting at wide apertures leads to out of focus pictures, which in turn paves the way to VERY sloppy photography.

Now that I have a better understanding of what I like and enjoy, this type of personal photography I try to stay away from.

I dig you! This is why f4-5.6 Zoom lenses rule! 😉

Your pictures are great, and I have always admired your work with the Noctiliux, Ned. 🙂

High-speed lenses are wonderful, just not good for people (such as myself) because I was self-taught when it came to photography. As with beginners, they can be easily influenced as they don't know any better. They know what they don't know and know what they know. 😕

I think that was what I was trying to say. 😛

Thanks... I think it's all about composition. The need to isolate the subject is not always there. That vision wether the subject needs isolation or not will develop over time. As a beginner, the only advice I can give you is shoot shoot shoot without boundaries.

Hello and thanks for the comments!
So far some of the links have brought up very interesting fotos, but also extremely boring and superflous "artsy" ones !
I will enlarge on later!

The Last Noctilux thread! You must be kidding! That would cut this forum back with about 60%.

Well....

I feel a bit sad, though. Empty. What are we going to bash here then?
