Single or Continuous?

  • 'C' is for me. I always fire off at least three shots in succession.

  • I keep it in 'C', so I can use continuous if and when I need to.

  • I shoot in 'S', but occaisionally switch to 'C' if the action dictates.

  • 'S' is all I need. I never use 'C'. If I want two shots, I'll press the shutter release twice.

Now don’t get me wrong because I love my M8 since November, although I feel the “C” mode is about as useful as the USB port.

agreed. i taped up the usb port and stuck a little rubber stopper over the c so that all i can do when i swipe on my m8 is get to single mode.

I've been thinking how to limit the travel of the switch too, and I like your idea. Do you have a photo of your "stopper" in place?

Here ya go doug, sorry for the cruddy pictures, but it gets the job done.
It's one of those little rubber sticky things you use to put under things to keep them from slipping or scratching things...i forget what they're actually called.

Tmfabian, that’s a clever and simple idea and I plan on applying your method today. In fact, I believe I have the clear bump pads stuffed somewhere in my house.

Won't work for me - I use selftimer for tripod work.:( So I trained myself to lift my finger after releasing, a long time ago, on the R4 with motorwinder. That did not even have single shot.

Yeah, it's far from a perfect fix, but for now it works for me. I'm just waiting for the firmware upgrade where you can set self timer to 0secs and for now I just use a self timer cable release if i need the self timer function.

Thanks! Looks like a cupboard door bumper. I'll have to find some and give that a try!

In single mode you decide what is THE photo. In continuous, the shutter decides and, usually, THE photo is lost between two takes.

For me, continuous shooting is undesirable always and inevitable sometimes. In such cases I use a reflex.
