Darkroom printing lives
I think some of you guys are close to solving the problem. The tank that I have (a Nikkor) came with a round metal plate that sits between the reel and the cover. I didn't put that in (don't ask why, stupid moments most likely). So it could be that the light leaked in when I pour the liquid into the tank.
Could that have caused the uniform light leak?
An argument against that is the fact that the metal plate itself has holes in it...
and if the light leak *is* caused by pouring the liquids, why do we see it on both edges of the film? logically it should only affect one side (the one closest to the top of the tank).
So can any of you guys using the same model Nikkor 300ml tank confirm that the metal dish plate must be in, and more usefully, what's that thing for? :bang:
Addendum: To those wondering whether this is camera related, it's highly unlikely, like I mentioned, two rolls from two different cameras exhibit this same problem.

I wonder if you could send a picture of a whole neg? And how do you wipe off the negs after rinsing?

Well-known
No metal tank I've ever used had a separate plate that went between the lid and reels. The lids I use have a metal disc/baffle (welded to the lid) which keeps it light tight but but allows the chemicals to flow in.
As well, if it was the plate, then you would have fog starting on one side and across the film. This is processing related.
