Voigtlander Perkeo IIIE

It only means something if someone actually buys it at that price. The original hood is a nice addition, but isn't so rare, since there are later cameras that used the same size hood.

The original hood for my Bessa II with Color-Heliar, when I had it, was around $100 and did bring the camera a higher than expected price when I sold it.

Note also this one, ended Monday, with "Reserve Not Met" at $712. And per the tiny print at the bottom of each of his listings, shipping is $34 if you're in the States, adding a non-trivial amount atop the already scary prices. I will say some of his old folders appear to be in beautiful shape, at least cosmetically.

there were two Perkeo E's not long ago thats sold for around $600+ within a week or two of each other... so maybe he saw them and thought why not! they didnt have the accesories as i far as remember

At this rate, the OP's auction has zero bids.

The seller started out pretty high for an opening bid and he does seem to have a reserve on this puppy.

I sniped a Perkeo E off of the bay about 3 years ago, which was described only as an "Old Accordian Camera". Even with the wrong description it cost me about $125 US.

The Perkeo E was ok, took an excellent photo and all that, but except in size, it didn't impress me as being better than my Agfa Isolette III with a 75/3.5 Solinar fitted within a Compur-Synchro MXV. I thought the RF on the Agfa was of better construction and definitely more reliable with regards to measuring distance accurately. So, I sold the Perkeo E on the bay with a proper description of the camera.

The Perkeo E is definitely a collector's camera. My Perkeo E jumped to $575 US in the final minutes of an auction. For that much money, you'd be better off with a ZI 531 Super Ikonta A MX

Incredible number of IIIe's last 30 days....

I watch the perkeos and there have been 5 in the last 30 days. Only one sold under $500 that I recall, and not much under. About two weeks ago there were 3 on at the same time.

I still prefer my Perkeo I with the Color Skopar. No fiddly film count and stop, or fragile rangefinder mechanism. Not that I would turn away the IIIE at a reasonable price. Due to the problems I have had on 3 of the Perkeo II film count systems, I will never pay the going price for a Perkeo II again.

OK, this is slightly OT (not a Perkeo III) but the same seller has now posted a Bessa II with the APO-Lanthar lens for $8,888 (BINOBO, but still...). I know Jurgen's Bessa page says the APO-Lanthar "will surely cost a king's ransom… to the tune of upwards of $1500!" and maybe this guy has taken that as license, but $9K?! Good grief! And he's including an accessory rangefinder with this rangefinder. Huh? Does this listing strike anyone as just a bit weird?

You can tell I'm from down south. Why would the seller include a separate auxiliary RF with a nearly $9,000 dollar Bessa II?

its just bazzar hey or its broken eh

crazy price but i guess he is trying to see if some nutso will pay it. i have not kept a close on eye on them lately but several months back i saw a nice one reach over $5000 and a while before that a very ruff looking one but with lens and shutter good, sell for $2600

saw a model 3 bessa 2 w/scoper sell for nearly $900 a week or two ago from the petra guy in holland

very small gains for huge increase in price...not worth it to anyone but a collector with ample money to spare!

I could see a very clean and complete later Bessa II with Apo-Lanthar going for $5000, if it had the 645 mask (the earlier version shown is 6x9 only), case, and lens hood. Filters and ephemera like a box or instruction manual would be a plus.

Coincidentally there is a serviced Perkeo 111E for sale at present by 'Beedhams' on Ebay UK.This is a totally reliable seller of Folders and TLR's.
