I am still dreaming on my ZC/Y 28/2, 50/2 macro and 100/2 macro.............
for super wide I will stick to ZM 21/2.8.

I just had for 2 weeks and then sold a Zeiss C/Y 28/2 on Ebay about three months ago. It's a long story how I got it, but in the end I decided that the 28/2.8 is good enough for me. Even though I loved the fact it was one stop faster, it was too big for my tastes and the 2.8 had a little less barrel distortion. The deal breaker for me going to the 2.8 and selling the 2 was how much money I would save. I feel really nervous around expensive camera gear. I tend to worry about the gear more than the pictures. So for comfort I sold it.
HOwever, now that I got a Canon XTI and have been using my Contax lenses with it, I sort of wish I didn't sell the 28/2. One stop of speed can make a difference at times

BTW - Contax lenses (epsecially the more compact primes with 55mm filter threads) bundled with a simple Roxsen AF confirm adapter on a XTI makes a really great digital arsenal. I love the portraits I am getting with me planar 50/1.7 on the XTI. It is a dream for available light photography, and not that hard to use stop down metering and focusing.

Oh man, I am such a fan of the new carl zeiss optics in both ZF and ZM mounts, while yes two completely different things, carl zeiss really is at the top of its game right now offering great stuff to photographers who actually know what it is they are getting with something like this. That test shot they have on there is shocking how even the performance is from corner to corner, and the distortion looks really really well controlled. If I had a nikon I would love to have this, but me being the stupid guy who hopes zeiss will put out a canon mount version of its lenses will just have to wait.

Avotius,
Just out of curiosity, why don't you try a Zeiss ZF or CY lens on your Canon with an adapter?

Contax compatible lens on Canon?
Contax compatible lens on Canon?
sorry I just stumbled on this thread. Am I understanding this correctly, with the proper adapter I can use a Contax compatible lens on a Canon AF camera. Do I retain focus to infinity? Are there restrictions (focal length or otherwise)?
Thanks,

With the correct adaptor infinity focus should be possible. But sometimes due to manufacturing tolerance, especially the cheaper adaptors, infinity focus maybe slightly out.

I have had good luck with my adapter on both Canon Elan II and Rebel XTI. I bought a generic Roxsen which worked out for me fine. I hear that the 5D can have problems with certain lenses due to the larger mirror.
Cameraquest sells an adapter as well, and is suppose to be very good. I just didn't have enough money for it.

Here is the Haoda adapter (again, supposedly good quality)

Roxsen adapters can be found on Ebay

I do have a yashica m42 lens on a adapter which I use on my canon sometimes but its not the same, metering is a pain and its slow to work with and anyone will tell you if you stop down a lens then your focus patch blacks out which makes it a pain to focus. Not the perfect solution by far. Interesting yes but not for me, especially when you are trying to shoot fast like I often do.
