I recently ventured into the world of RFs by buying a R3M 250. But I'm a bit reluctanct to take it out and about without knocking this little piece of Bessa porn about! I had the same problem when I bought a mint OM4ti. I couldn't bare to be the first one to brass it up!

I ended up buying the R3A as it seemed less 'special', had a more knock resistent paint job and of course had the auto function. Does anyone else use their R3M 250 as a carry everywhere - don't mind a few knocks - camera or are you keeping it safe and snug in its white box?

Of course it should be used! Mine has a couple of small chips, but so what.I think the time of "collectibles" is over (thank God). There were plenty of the R3M 250 made and sold and it is a great camera. Very good finder (2nd best of all time - The Zeiss ZI is the best). Great metering system with the EV read outs. I tend to use it withe either the 40f1.4 Nokton's or my 75f2 Summicron (great free standing 75 mm finder). The Heliar 50f2 is usually on a M2.
Put film in it and let it accumulate some scars - they are obtained the honorable way - through use!

Well, considering it's, what? something like 1/6th the price of my MP of course I'm using it! It's eminently useable! Sure it's pretty, but I can't imagine storing it! It's with me all the time. Granted my MP needs work, but I find I like the feel of the R3M MORE.

You gotta get over the fondle factor and use it as a photographic machine. Enjoy!

yep that damn fondle factor gets me every time. Thats the trouble with cameras, they are too nice to look at.

So no one out there keeping there 250's as minties?

Ok...you lot win, the R3M will come out of its box. The R3A had its first outing this weekend. A friends wedding. Took the Bessa with a 40/1.4 and a 75/2.5. Had great fun on the day, although I was dissapointed by the pro. I thought he would do all the standard shots so I could do some infill shots with an RF. He turned up with two Canons and an M8, so he did natural shots too..damn! Well at least he offered to use my camera to take one of me any my wife, hats off to him.

I have a R2M 250 and I using it, mostly with the 35 Ultron 1.7. Very pleased with the results and I like de manual handling of aperture and speeds setting. For me it is pure photography where I have everything in my own control.
Best

For God's sake!

For God's sake!

Use it! I know mine would anthropomorphically whine if I kept it away - such a wonderful tool deserves to be used.

I bought mine to use it for street and doc work. Was recently in India with it taking it through deserts, jungles and the streets of Kolkata. Seems a shame to keep in a cabinet.

The 250th and 101 sets were produced to make things more interesting for Voigtlander fans, not to be closet collectibles.

Shoot them and enjoy them as picture takes, that is what they were made for.
