rolleiflex CLA quesion.

I've used Krikor twice....

Pro: Turnaround time. Quickest in the biz.
Pro: Knows his stuff

Con: Not cheap by any means. Can easily spend $ 300+ on a Rollei that needs to be brought into spec by Krikor.
Con: Communication was less than ideal in terms of native language differences.

Many people I know, believe:

If you want a Fleenor-like repair and want it fast, its Krikor.

Have time to spare ( like 3+ months ) waiting for your repair, Fleenor.

Other choices include Paul Ebel who has a reputation for good solid work at reasonable rates and reasonable turnaround times. Never used him, but hear only positive comments.

If you know which part you need to have replaced in a Rolleiflex, would any of the mentioned repairmen sell spare parts?

To answer Raid's question, I have before contacted Harry Fleenor and asked if he would sell a strap holder for a Rolleicord Va. He quickly responded and offered to sell the part to me, albeit for quite a price (around $50, if I remember right). I decided to not buy this part from him and instead leave the camera as is, since it is a great user camera, and not a display piece. (someone had replaced the strap holder with a Yashica strap holder... looks kind of funny but works).

Oh, by the way, I have bought a few Yashica-Mat parts directly from Mark Hama. He was very helpful and the parts were reasonably priced.

A few months ago I took my 1953 Rolliflex, which had fallen out of my bag in a parking lot and no longer worked, to Krikor Marelian. While Krikor said he could repair it, he indicated that the physical damage was significant enough that he would not recommend repair, as the resale value was nil. Although he quoted me a good price for the repair, I am not sentimental about my cameras. I gave him the camera for parts and purchased another Rolleiflex from him. This Rolleiflex had a problem with the lens that showed in the contact sheets but was otherwise not visible. Krikor replaced the camera cheerfully. I ended up with a newer Rolleiflex that produces fantastic images. I am very impressed with Krikor and recommend him highly.
