I was wondering what filter size fits a Canon RF 50/1.4? I have seen various websites with older version and even the newer versions of lenses but it didn't say what the filter size for the newer versions. The lenses that were sold with the Canon 7's and P's are what I am speaking of. Could they be 52mm?

I use a custom, brass, Heliopan 48 to 49 mm step-up ring w/ mine. 'Lots of filters, hoods in 49mm. I got the step-up ring from Tim Rice in CA: tijori@rcn.com

I received my Canon 50/1.4 today from Japan and the first roll came out great. It will be one of my favorite lens for the future. I was lucky to get a UV filter attached with it so I now have an extra 48 mm filter. I now need a cap for the front as it will be always on my Canon 7 for quick shots.

The Irony is that I was always a Nikon Person in SLR. I thought they were the best until I got back into RF with Canon and Leica. Maybe I will get into Nikon RF later and the M's of Leica. I have to stop buying cameras and lenses.

Hey guys, I'm looking for a Canon 1.4. Tried posting in the WTT column,
but no takers... or maybe we don't go there?

There are a couple for sale over at KEH. Prices look pretty reasonable.

I got my beautiful Canon 50mm/1.4 at KEH for less than $250. They had it listed as BGN grade.

Also, jiri_e will do direct fixed-price sales outside of eBay, and is well-regarded.

"Flim? You want flim?"
I got mine from a Flickr user who saw my gear and offered me his jiri_e Canon 50/1.4 for $150. It was a great buy with only some cosmetic cleaning marks that do not have an impact on quality of images. Reason he sold it? He had also placed a bid on a Canon P at the same time, and lost, therefore had nothing to use it on. Sometimes these things practically fall into your lap. Lucky me.

Lucky you for sure. This week will be a different camera with the same Canon 50/1.4. and a Voigtlander 50/1.5. I will post on my flicker account.
