Hi
I recently downloaded a free trial version on B&W conversion software by Nik called Silver Exfex Pro. I have attached RD1s frame shot on a 28mm Ultron wide open processed through the software. Its not perfect but if you use it with channels it can get pretty close and its quicker too!

I quite like that photo.

I would complain that there are to many controls that are confusing or fiddly, but digital B&W is always a bit hit and miss I find.

Thanks for posting. I had a look at their website, and expect I will try it out.

I like this software. I also use Exposure 2. Both have their good points. Exposure 2 has a lot more options available; but, Silver Efx Pro produces a better default rendering to my eye.
I was just about to start a thread to ask if somebody had used both a bit more extensively. I know I can download a trial and have to do some testing of my own - but would still like to hear what do you think is better, or where does exposure 2 lack a bit in your opinion? Any comparison of the same shot?

Good to hear, will download them both when I have time to do some testing. Cheers.

Never tried the other but I really like Silver Exfex Pro. Very fast imo. Seems to have all the tools I need for not only digital color conversions but making b&w scans look better and process easier.

At least I'm consistent in my tastes. Which is a good thing, since I can't seem to remember anything from one day to another. Sorry Dave.I like C in the the blown up crop, but not so much the full image. I suspect it would make an effective print though.

I can see why you feel unappreciated. It was a great test mate. Thanks for that - it IS appreciated!
