We know that a common problem among older black CV lenses is paint loss, especially on knurled areas. Has anyone tried repainting? Is there some sort of touch-up paint for lenses?

I have used black nail polish, which works fine. (Most people don't realize that nail polish is a really useful enamel paint.)

I'll be the minority here: Don't touch it up. Lenses and camera bodies look cool to me; they're character marks!

Brenner at Weiden offers black photoequipment painting colour - and colour sticks for that purpose.

Are you talking about http://www.fotobrenner.de/ ? If so, where on the site can I find this?

I'd agree with you if it were nice smooth brassing on a rounded M body, but on knurled edges it just looks like weird high-contrast lines.

Many sporting goods stores and most gunsmith supply houses offer
"blackening" solutions for both aluminum and brass (two different products.) that work well for touching up worn spots. Generally, they leave a flat finish. Similar solutions are available for steel.
