Enlarger color heads

I tried searching for info but with no luck.

What is the difference between the Beseler color 45 head, DG1, the early one with the hose coming out of it and the Beseler color head, 45s. I now have both however, the 45s is the one I have been using for years. Have not had a chance to try out the DG1.

Although I don't need both, thinking of keeping the extra one for a back up.

Different range of adjustments if I remember correctly- 160 vs 200 max? The older one uses a separate power supply also correct?

Yes, separate power supply, separate blower hooked up with the hose. I uses different lamp (s?) wattage, which I think are higher wattage.

I am guessing it works about the same as the later ones, wonder if there is any downside or reliability issues.

We've got some of the older style 23C colorheads at work, the magenta filters do seem to have faded somewhat compared to the newer versions. One has a bad power supply also, doubt that could be easily repaired. We don't need to use them anymore, so haven't tried. Beyond that I don't know.
