Hi everyone,
It's been a while since i registered this forum and following here daily. Not much posts but I am getting used to it nowadays.
Since we are many users around the world here I thought we can in to a collaborative project and I have a suggestion. So here is the proposal.
Project Abstract:
We are a small community gathered by internet here from different locations of the world from different time zones. The project will be collection of photographs from participants taken at the same time.
For example: One can shoot at dawn in his house and one can shoot at the street in the midday. But it will be the same time in our time zones also giving the project's name "At the Same Time".
Project Goal:
We have rather technical speech here about lenses and examples from them or how we can develop good setting to bw or plugins etc. I thought it would be good a idea to have more productive thread resulting with a collaborative project.
Project Medium
These days demand-on-publishing has come a long way and sites like lulu.com or blurb(less customizable) offers prints from 1 to thousand copies. It would be better to have a solid book of ours in our shelves rather than a web gallery.
I am actually a graphic designer and can design page layout for the book rather than using templates. Or can work with other volunteers in design process.
Methodology:
The shooting of photo period can be determined later. It can be once a week and be collected for 3 months then goes to publish.
I can setup a database in my hosting for photo uploads with simple user interface so that every contributor can see other's submissions and we can make an elimination if necessary.
Result:
It will be a collection of works under this community(named later maybe) published periodically. (Maybe we can set a name for this group) Each issue can have a different subject other than "At the Same Time".
I'd like to know if you are interested for a project like this so we can have a start. All suggestions are welcome.
Cheers

I like the idea of taking a photo at the same time around the world. This could be a lot of fun if we do this two or three times and share the pictures.
I am sceptical if this can be a serious project as you describe it. Especially publishing could be difficult because we had to establish a process for selecting the pictures for the book or do you think all submited photos should/can be published?
I am sure you mean well when you offer a hosting site, but I do not like the idea of submitting pictures to just another photo site with no clear terms of use.
If we would do this just for fun, we could easily set up a group in flickr. If the pictures stay in rangefinderforum or flickr I would contribute pictures to "At the Same Time".

Oh. Just noticed that this thread is in "Epson R-D1...". Do you want the participation only for pictures of the Epson digital RF?

You are right about the copyright subject, flickr can be a good idea with creative commons. This is something easy to solve.
I wanted to set a different domain other than flickr or a forum to have a unique group of people interested in photo projects under a name which will be decided by us. We can use the same creative common license in our feature site too. We can also make it password protected only to contributors etc. Maybe we can do these all in flickr, I am not just used to it so I don't know. : )
To clarify I also don't expect any income from this project. My aim is to gather people work on subjects decided by us and produce.
I couldn't find a forum about projects so I posted it here where I am familiar with. It would already appear on the main page I thought. Having only rd1 users will not be a good idea of course.

Neat idea indeed, I'd love to participate.
Can this thread to be moved to a general forum where it can be exposed not only RD-1 users ? (unless it is intentionally confined to RD-1 community)...
