Would you pay $1,050 used, or $600 new?

I've noticed that German prices on photographic equipment seem to be the highest all things being the same. I've always wondered how that worked.

either they have customers where money is not a problem or they don't have customers and are losing money with non-moving inventory. I wonder if they have day jobs?

@Gabriel M.A.: btw. the item is marked as "brand new" and not used as you stated.

The street price of the lens in Germany is about 650 EUR (1020 $) and that is without the adapter that is included in the ebay offer. So the offer isn't sooo bad. But I wouldn't buy in Germany from a German shop in US$

Arsenal has no customer service and their prices are above the competition all the time. I wonder why they still sell anything.

Prices in Europe are much higher than what they are in Japan and in the USA. Heavy import taxes are what drive the prices of new camera gear up, and second hand prices follow the same trend. It is therefore much more interesting for us Europeans to shop in the USA, especially with the current Euro-Dollar rate.

That being said, Arsenal would be the last place I would look for something. Their prices are way above the rest, there are much better deals to be found if you search around a little.

There's so much junk in that page, it practically doesn't say anything

They usually sell used stuff. The eBay item title doesn't state that, so I just put two and two together, but I forget that with them 2+2 is usually 7.

Like others stated, if this is tax, then it's still a wonder that people buy through them, and not a U.S.-based seller.

All their fiscal fornication aside, I'm wary of this seller because they have a black Nkon SP for sale that looks like it was dragged behind a car along a concrete highway for fifty miles, and its cosmetic condition is described as "shows slight signs of wear". A seller who can't even be honest in a description, when there is a photo to compare it to, doesn't instill any confidence in me as a potential purchaser of their wares. And their "optimistic" pricing, is absurd to say the least.

A few months ago I actually got a good deal from Arsenal on ebay because no one else bid on it. Apparently Arsenal thought it was a good deal too and never sent me the lens even though they charged my credit card. I chased after them two months later and they refunded me and said the item was no longer for sale. I gave them a negative and they retaliated by saying I was a non paying bidder. What a bunch of as*****s!
