A couple of weeks ago I received a gorgeous little lens. It' a Canon 100/3.5 II, the one with 34 mm filter dia. When the lens is focused at infinity the two images in the rangefinder do not coincide, as a matter of fact the distance between the two images is more than I appreciate. This is the case with my Canon P as well as with my two Canon 7.
Pictures taken with the lens wide open and set at infinity seems to be sharp, so do screen tests at the filmplane. What shall I do to get things right?
On the milled ring at the rear end of the lens there is two screws located at about 12 o'clock. Can anybody out there tell me what the function of these screws is?

Those two screws simply hold on the piece that holds the cam follower arm that is the rangefinder coupling.
My first guess would be that someone took it apart, and put the helical thread set together on the wrong start.
The RF coupling cam should project from the lens flange exactly 7.5mm when the lens is focused at infinity.

Thanks John, your post is very helpful.
I have done some mesaurements, and according to these the cam projects about 7.4 mm from the flange, certainly not 7.5 mm.
I have found out how to get the optical module out of the barrel fom the other active thread on the Canon 100/3.5.
Any suggestions on how to loosen the helical thread?

the cam follower is in the way, maybe it can be compressed and then it will unscrew
