Then I sat down, did some math, realized that if I sold everything....

A lot of what I buy now is still part of that same stack of DINK (dual income no kids) "investment." I just have to sell so I can buy some thing different.
 
I would say I was right to a point too. I do miss my Bessa R, and I am thinking of selling the M6 I bought with that first big sale, because I prefer other cameras to it.

But the M2 and M3 are staying.
 
Five years since I posted on a "What's your favorite film" thread, with Joe, Jorge and an older gentleman who could talk about Leicas in the 50s...

BTW, Jorge, I'm Francisco. 🙂 Member No. 12... and proud of it! 😉

Time really flies when you're having fun... And to think that if I started here 5 years ago, and I already "knew" Ralph and Joe from the PopPhoto forum... We've been at this for some time! 😱

And you and the other moderators have been doing a great job since.

I am a refugee from PN, and came to this site because it was a place where I could find got discussion and information on the R-D1, generally unaccompanied by the snide and derisive comments which were prevalent there. Who would have thought that exposure to this site would have led me buying old Canon lenses? But then again, it is the combination of intelligent discussion of past, present and future...
But I'm making it sound so serious and boring. I come for the jokes too.

Last but not least, has been the way RFF has led to my meeting other rangefinder photographers both from Toronto, and RFF members visiting here.

So Happy Birthday, and many happy returns!

Well done to everybody who has been involved with the site - it has certainly had an effect upon me. I started out with a fixed lens Yashica, now I have two Leica IIIf's, an Olympus XA and a Bessa R3A to play with. If it had not been for RFF I may have succumbed to the dreaded DSLR thing - I was certainly thinking about it because I rather stupidly thought that film was dead! 😱😱😱

like in one response earlier, I also thought RFF must have been around since the dawn of Internet, when I found it 2006. perhaps this first imression came because subject was "old film cameras", as I then thought of it (while being proud of my first dSLR) 😱

its been educating and fun to follow up discussions here. thanks Jorge, Joe, Stephen, Rover and others involved 🙂

Jorge, hope its not only FF Nikons nowadays ? 😉

My sincere thanks for the gift to all of us. And yes, you have robbed my employer a bit also. It's OK, I feel robbed of a personal life sometimes. It all evens out.

I'm a relative newcomer (10 months), but I feel compelled to logon daily. I consider fellow members my friends-- I've met several local members face to face. This is the most fascinating website I've found.

I found the site after I saw Noctilux photos on Flickr. Now I've acquired a couple of Canon rf's with 50mm 0.95, Barnack Leica, and finally an M6. Still can't afford a Noctilux. (Too bad I didn't discover this site before the recession kicked in-- prices were much better then.)

It's not only the technical talk I enjoy. Discussion often turns to politics/religion/pop culture. Sometimes the moderators are a little heavy handed. I don't mean to complain, but offer it as constructive criticism. Lighten up a bit. We're big boys. It's only talk.

Anyhoo, thanks Jorge. Thanks for paying the bills, Stephen (I tried to buy a LTM to M adapter from you-- out of stock.) Thanks to the moderators for their hard work. Happy Birthday RFF!
