28 elmarit asph: what is it made out of

Hi,

I have a rub mark down to the paint from the hood rubbing on the front lens barrel. I bought both brass and aluminum blackening paint to cover this spot.

Does anyone know what the barrel is made of? The color is silver under the black chrome that rubbed off.

As I understand it the silver lenses are brass construction, and the black lenses are aluminum construction.

That's why the silver lenses weigh heavier than the equivalent black lenses.

silver lenses = brass stock. Blk lenses = alum stock.

Only the outer shell (the housing) is different between the silver and black lenses.
