Thanks KEH, a bottle of Glenkinchie and a broken toe.

Just pulled the trigger on a black M5, and trying to get Cameraleather.com to sell me a Black+White Cobra covering.

To all the M5 owners: I've read a bit about this camera - as a long time MP user, what should I expect?

Thanks (and thank god for Scotch Whisky!),
Julian

More. The M5 is terribly huge. Big. Fat. Ugly. You'll hate it.

That's what those of us who Know The Truth want the rest of the world to think.

Welcome aboard. Secret initiation packet enroute!

Cheers!

Seriously, the viewfinder will be equal or superior to the MP. I don't recall what framelines are in the MP. The freedom from flare in the M5 viewfinder is very nice.

It is a different camera from the traditional M's. You'll likely either love it or hate it. I think it's worth the effort to find out.

Leica MP:

35/135
50/70
28/90

Leica MP-3:
35
50
90

Truthfully, as I use 50 90% of the time, I prefer the MP-3...
Quite excited thought... M5 has always fascinated me, it just took a broken bone and copious amounts of alcohol to pull the trigger :)

Congrats on the M5! When yours is only half as nice as mine you still bought yourself a wonderful camera. (Reading your title I thought it was my thread ;))

M5's are downright purdy, next to "THE BEAST" in B&W Cobraskin:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::

Funny. I didn't know that alcohol induced M5 Lust & Purchase Disorder. I bought both of mine while perfectly sober. I was, however, accused of being about "half a brick out of plumb."
