The M5 is a very interesting Leica camera model. About a year ago I traded gear with Keith and got his lovely M5. I've used it sparingly since then. There have been several M5 threads at RFF lately.

I'm thinking about selling/trading the M5, for 2 reasons:

1) I want to raise some money for a Linhof Technika 6x9 camera

2) With my glasses, I have difficulty seeing the 35mm framelines in the M5. Since my other M camera is a 0.85 mag M6, the M5 is not a good match. I also have difficulty seeing the 35mm framelines in my M6.

I'd like to trade the M5 for an M2 (for the framelines) and extra cash. I figure the M5 to be worth $1200 and a good M2 worth $700. That gives me extra cash, and an M camera with easy to see 35mm framelines.

Step right up here Mister, and see the classified ad under WANT to TRADE.

If I had an M2, I would have traded with you, Frank. Good luck.
I do have a Linhof 4x5 camera though.

Depend on condition, M5 is greatly flatted on price, a beat up M5 worth less than a M2. I have serveral M2 but I never fall love on M5 even mint. Good luck for the trade

As the ex owner of that M5 I can confirm that it is in rare condition and I'm sure that where ever it finishes up the new owner will be as gobsmacked as I was when I first saw it.

That said I approve highly of the idea of the Linhof Techinica 6x9 because that's a camera I would love to have in my kit! :p

Good luck with the plan Frank and I'll need to see some 'gas' shots of the Technica when you get one! :)

I'd be surprised if trading the M5 for an M2 will solve the 35mm frames problem, but I'm wrong regularly.
