Archhh I hate HP!
Been there before, even bought the $9,95 cd from them with the software. With I think should have been a free update in the first place
I just received my first roll of B&W back taken with a borrowed old Voigtlander. Tomorrow I will receive my Leica M4-P
Exited I pulled out the scanner after it has been sitting in the closet for a year or so. Meantime we updated to OS 10.5.4. Guess what the application cant find the scanner
Reinstalled the software, rebooted computer, changed cable, nothing nada.
I looked at the Silverfast website but cant find this barely used scanner.
Any suggestions?
Please help

My M5s need red dots!
Are you connecting the scanner directly to the computer or through a hub?
Did you connect the scanner to the computer before installing the software?
My desktop computer is like yours (same OS). I installed the software for my HP4570 (that is earlier than yours) and, when the installer finished, I opened the scanning software, and held the mouse button down on its dock icon while the software was running. That way I created a shortcut that allowed me to operate and scan from the computer. In my previous computer, every time I wanted to scan I simply pressed the scan button on the scanner.
Now, re-reading my post I wonder... My computer hunted and found the scanner; that's how I could set up this shortcut. Have you opened the scanning software?
I wish I could be more helpful, but I cannot recall exactly the steps I followed when installing my scanner software in my computer.
Good luck!
