My journey with the LEICA MP

HCB museum in Paris

HCB museum in Paris

Congrats on the MP (I finally managed to save enough for one this year as well!).

I had the same experience at the HCB museum in Paris. It was so hard to find and then when it was closed I was gutted. My wife and I even had lunch nearby and tried again a hour and a half later but it was still shut. Very frustrating. I'm beginning to wonder if it has closed and no one has bothered to put a sign up!

i wonder if we're talking about the same thing. i went there over the valentines day this year, it was a wednesday night and it was open.
it was in a regular apartment building, on the 3rd floor? not too far from the montparnasse cemetery?

YeS!..
I wrote on their email a letter, where in short form tell them, how I was dissapointed... The answer still didn't arived...

At night?.. Or evening?.. It's pretty stunning to be a fan of a man, to go to his foundation, maybe to see some pictures, books, things, and his family... And then, throu all my way, they didn't even bothered to put a sign up!!!

Pretty not good I would say... :(

nice pictures. I love Cron signature :) Glad you did chose this not Planar hehe. It is not about sharpness but signature :)

Hmmm. I was under impression that Summicron was supposed to be SHARP! From wide open. Ones I had were sharp - so I'm not sure I understand the comment about Planar - planar is sharp too. At least mine was.
As far as pictures go - nice, but maybe originals are sharper and just poor scans here? But as they are now - I think Summicron should perform better. - this is from technical point. Otherwise - nice pictures.

Very nice pictures, Nugard, the second and third images stand out for me. Congrats on your MP, looks like the journey just began.

Hmmm. I was under impression that Summicron was supposed to be SHARP! From wide open. Ones I had were sharp - so I'm not sure I understand the comment about Planar - planar is sharp too. At least mine was.

Maybe it's not the lens... It was maybe my first or second roll of film with MP, and cron... And it was my third day holding it... Maybe I was not as sharp, as it is needed... Can't really say...
BTW, the scans are not as good, as prints...

Thanks!..
Hehe!.. Yeah the journey is at it's beginning... Nice point of view:rolleyes:

they're both sharp. the planar is higher contrast so it appears sharper.

well our priorities are different. You are looking for maximum sharpness, while I'm - for signature. I'd accept that Planar generally is sharper than Summicron. Again, it is not all about sharpness and this is not top priority for some people.

I have Cron of next older generation '69-79 and recognized Cron look in his pictures immediately that's why I'm smiled :) It is signature, signature, signature. at least for me.

I dont want hijack one thread and start discuss about other lenses and sharpness :)

Guys!..)) Be gentle!.. I created this type of thread month ago...;)

BTW, it was 400 iso film... HP5 I guess...

HP5, it was interesting! I really liked the look of HP5, I shot a lot of Trix before and now I'm trying APX and Fomapan as for trying to find good look at cheap price.

Ilford HP5 is GOOD!.. Also I really like the look of Ilford PAN 400... Also I've shooted the Delta 400.. It's different, but nice... For my eyes...

Thanks!.. I'm pleased to hear that))

Here I'm cought on shooting:

Just recently got an M7 but in celebration of you getting an MP, I will shoot only manual exposure for the next 2 hours. Congrats!

I saw 2 HCB exhibits in Paris this summer, both excellent - One at the Maison Europeenne De la Photograhie and the other and the Musee de l'Arte Moderne de la Ville de Paris - is there another HCB exhibit/museum that I missed ?
