How many rolls you develop in one sitting?

Most often I have two SS 4 reel tanks going a minute apart, sometimes a 4 and a 2. I've done three tanks at once, but I get too harried during the stop bath fill & dump. Don't bother telling me not to use stop I'm not going to.

I have a few 8 reel tanks I use from time to time, but prefer not to...they're freaking heavy and leak horribly.

I have a 5 reel, a 3 reel, and several 2 reel tanks, all Paterson. But I am only comfortable developing 2 tanks at the same time. Since I shoot both 120 & 35mm, the number of reels varies.

Last Saturday I shot 3 rolls of 120 and 4 of 35mm. So it became the 120 in the 5 reel tank, then restart with 2 tanks with 2 35mm reels in each.

I only shoot Neopan 400 but I normally develop the 120 in Rodinal and the 35mm in HC-110. Don't ask why, that just seems to work best for me. But sometimes I will mix 120 and 35mm in the same tank. Then I choose a developer based on what I shot.

Looks to me like I'm a bit of a weenie compared to most: 3 rolls a night in a one-reel tank is my limit. But then I'm old and feeble. My "dark" room has light leaks and is only really dark after sunset, so I have a film backlog fron the long summer days. Looks like I need to order a 5-8 reel tank from Freestyle tonight. Wish I had the $$ and space for a Jobo, but whatta ya gonna do?

two rolls of 35mm or 1 roll of 120 on steel reels. The plastic tops to the steel tanks are better than the metal tops, they don't leak.

Presently I have a Nikor 2 reel tank, which I seldom use. I mostly use my Nikor 4 reel tank. And I do have a Nikor 8 reel tank that I use when running combinations of 120 and 35mm together. All of these work very well for me.

Twenty years ago I used Patersons of all sizes, used to run the big uns on the Unicolor Uniroller. Leaked quite a bit as i recall.

I have Nikor tanks in a stand ( three 8 reel tanks) to do 8 rolls at a time. Used to be wedding guys set up.

95% of the time, 1 roll, ocassionally 2, a few times 4, all in proper size Nikor tanks.

About 10 rolls of 135 in a sitting using 2 reel Jobo tanks. I have 2 tanks and 8 reels so I can keep switching and have dry reels for each load. I usually save up rolls until I get to 10 so that I use a freshly mixed batch of fixer for the 10 rolls only. Past experience has shown that I can often get precipitation in the fixer if I leave it mixed up and used for any period of time. ...and cleaning the scans of this just isnt worth it

I have three Paterson tanks, two, three and five reel. I only use the two smaller ones since I have no bottles and jugs for more than one liter of fluid.

An 8-reel tank is significantly more unwieldy than a 5, and you need to be able to handle significantly larger quantities of liquids.

For example, at 300ml per reel, with a 5 reel tank you need to handle 1500ml of developer. But with an 8 reel tank that's 2400ml, which is really quite a lot (well over half a US gallon).

So make sure you have big enough measuring cylinders, jugs, or whatever you use.

I don't have anything bigger than 1200ml, but I handle my 5-reel tank (1500ml) by making up the developer etc in two smaller cylinders or jugs.

I only ever develop one roll at a time. Im not a fast shooter, I have trouble getting though one 36 exp. roll in a day! I want to shoot more, but the areas I frequent are becoming old hat and the frames just dont seem to fly. :(

If you do go for a larger tank (8x35mm or larger), it's a good idea to fill the tank with developer and then immerse all the reels at once, put the lid on, and then proceed with the lights on as you normally would. With a stainless steel tank, a lift rod is useful for this purpose.

I use paterson system4 multi reels for 8 reels of 135 films

it can take 5 of 120 format films too, but i'll keep the films to 10 rolls then loaded 2 rolls/per reels then i can developed 10 rolls of films in one shot!

I love plastic autoload reels :D

Unless it's one very important roll of film I'll wait until I have at least 4 or more rolls to do...
Right now I have 5 rolls of 120...4 are already loaded in two Paterson tanks and the fifth roll is still on the shelf...I should do it too, I just gotta find another small tank to put it in...

I develop 4 rolls (35mm) at a time in a 5-roll Paterson tank. Like Sam, I usually wait until I have 4 rolls ready. I have a few smaller tanks, but i rarely use them now.
