I was just searching around on the web and came across this really interesting project. Acquire a film camera that costs no more than $50, shoot it, review it, post photos of it and that were taken with it. 80 cameras made the cut. A treasure trove for the committed film photographer and some very interesting results. And the GAS is cheap, unless you need to acquire all 80 cameras.

Yeah, sorry about that. I'm surprised we didn't see it sooner.

I noticed a few toy cameras. I have gotten some good results with a tweety plastic toy camera:

I got similar results from a Tazmanian Devil.

Interesting 80 cameras. There were 4 Vivitar Ultra Wide and Slims in the group, I'd think one should do. Also I'd like to buy a Mamiya C330 for $50 please...
I randomly read some of the reviews and looked at some of the exposures. It looks like anyone who wanted to write something about a camera they had got it into the pool. I could be wrong though.
Harmless fun, but I don't take the reviews too seriously.

Well, there's my Olympus 35 RC in great condition, $2.00. My Leica IIIC with 50mm f2.0 Summitar collaspible and never ready case for $40.00, and the latest, this Saturday, my Pacemaker Crown Graphic 4 x5 with 135mm f4.7 Xenar for $30, in working condition. The Leica did require a CLA. No photos of them at this point. Dave

I suppose if we ran such a contest here it would be called the $1000 film camera contest. Only rangefinders costing $1000 and above allowed!

C'mon now. I've only 2 NIB cameras an R3a and an R4a. Everything else is used and well below $500.
I guess someone can find an Olympus RC for $2 , I paid $45 for mine or a Mamiya C330 for $50 but most cost well over $100. However most used cameras on the active market cost a bit more than the prices listed. Point was people are going to visit camera dealers and tell them that the Mamiya C330 is only worth $50 or less. This doesn't help readers who believe that. Sure garage sales can turn this up but it's not a way to go out and source the cameras listed.
Maybe 'Garage Sale cameras for less than $50' would be a clearer way to head up the article.
Heck there's even the Cameraquest story of the Nikon One going for $15 , throw that in the pool... http://cameraquest.com/NRFGS1.htm
