'Just saw this in a Korean newspaper:

"A 34-year-old man was booked Thursday for taking photos up women's skirts with a camera phone hidden in his shoe. Heungdeok Police Station in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, said the offender, identified by Jeon, used such device to take photographs as well as videos while strolling express bus terminals in the area as many as 470 times since May.

Jeon cut off the top of his shoe, and inserted the camera therein. While walking along, he would put his feet under women's skirts to get the images. Police believe Jeon has not uploaded his material online.

Police said they have booked him without detention since the victims of his action have not been identified and there is not concrete evidence to prove specific women as victims of his action.

Jeon was caught when a woman called up the police complaining a stranger had been following her all day long."

You gotta laugh ... but I guess if you were one of those women it's not funny at all. He needs to find himself a nice safe hobby like stamp collecting!

You aren't kidding about laughing. I just searched on "Korean" and "panties" on google/images and probably saw much more interesting stuff than this guy probably did. And I'm sitting in the comfort of my own home... not jail like he is. Perhaps it was more about the thrill of doing the dirty deed than the pictures themselves? People are often quite odd.

I don't know if the exposure would be correct. for example the ambient light is always going to be very bright and under the skirt not so much, so unless his smart enough to have set the exposure manually otherwise the part under the skirt would appear underexposed/too dark because the camera is trying to expose for the outside light.

Anyway...

Depends on the focal length/distance.

What method would you use?

Good photography is full of compromises! 😛

I suppose you'd get the most accurate meter reading by holding an incident meter rght up there under her skirt. Panties come in so many colors and shades from white to black that I wouldn't trust a reflected reading. If you can find a woman who'll let you get that under-the-skirt incident reading I doubt that taking a few photos would get her upset.

I don't have an incident meter so I'd have to take a reading of the palm of my hand! 😱

I think this is where the matrix metering of an evil SLR will come handy.

Here is an idea for a project. Hire models and photograph under their skirt on the city streets making it look candid. use black and white. I think the book with such pictures (if they're good) would sell really well.

Keith, if you read off the palm of your hand you're supposed to open up one stop. Be very careful as to exactly what you open up in this case. It can quickly escalate into a very hairy situation.
(Moderator, maybe it's time to lock this thread.)

LOL ... in fact ROTFL!

That's the most politically incorrect thing I've read on the forum in a long time ... please don't ever leave! 😛

Some people tell me that my droll warped humor (and my writing style) is indicitive of Aspergers syndrome, while the medical/psycological community is divided as to whether or not Aspergers actually exists. It was only defined about a dozen years ago. What the hell! I'm having fun.
