I was surprised not to find any reference to this on here:

This guy, Andrew Land, created a slide-rule-style exposure calculator that you can print out on a sheet of paper, then fold and glue into a credit-card-sized tool. I just made one and wrapped it in packing tape so it'll last. Very cool and indeed handy.

Here's what I use. It's for 400asa film, I adjust mentally for faster/slower film. Keeps it simple.
1/500, f16 bright sun, hard shadows
1/500, f11 hazy sun, soft shadows
1/500, f8 cloudy bright, no shadows
1/250, f8 heavy overcast
1/250, f5.6 open shade
1/125, f5.6 rainy day
1/125, f4 spotlit subject, neon lights
1/60, f4 bright office fluorescents
1/60, f2.8 stage show, circuses
1/30, f2.8 bright home interior, fairs
1/30, f2 home interior, campfires
1/15, f2 candlelight, under street lights
1/500, f16 bright sun, hard shadows

I keep Jonathan Sachs's Expose 1.0 and other tools on my phone, for the days when my mental arithmetic just isn't up to the task.

Those of us who grew up in the days of The Great Yellow Father (Kodak and all that that word stood for) will surely recognize words like bright sun, hard shadows, hazy sun, and so forth, for they were printed on little sheets of paper stuffed into each box of Kodak film, black-and-white, or color. They were a practically fool-proof guide to proper exposure. Pity we don't have them any longer except in memory.
After all, that's where "sunny 16" originated.

That was in response to a pair of JPG's posted by Keith (used to be a sticky here; maybe still is?). The idea was to reduce the information at Fred Parker's site

to something that can be printed and laminated to a 3x5 index card, just about the right size for a shirt pocket.
