I have both MP and M7, as well as B30. It fits perfectly but I rarely mount on because it is screwed to fix tightly.
When hand-held, there is extra 1cm back, front and side, not very comfortable. It sort of defeat the purpose of M. But I carry tripod very often for my other gears, so I just bring it along just in case.

Thanks Mervyn. I rarely use the MP with a tripod, but I have a family project where I have to. Since my tripod for the Mamiya 7II has an RRS ballhead, I figure I can "save money" by just getting a plate for the MP.

Every Leica M baseplate ever produced (excepting the M5 and M8) is exactly the same size.

I have a B30 and use it alot. Course I am shooting landscapes mainly in IR. If I don't on using a tripod it comes off.
BTW it doesn't fit with a rapidwinder...

My M7 baseplate can be put on my M6 classic. OTOH, my m6 classic baseplate cannot fit my M7 !!!! My TA rapidwinder II can fit both !!!!

There are minute differences between M7/MP/M6 base plates. It seems that the chassi for the M7 is a different casting than the rest. Usually you can make the baseplate fit (with brute force!) - but there is about 0,3-0,4 mm difference. When I started making the Rapidwinders this drove me nuts!!! Some M4P's had slightly oversized bodyshells as did the Titanium M6. The machines were reprogrammed to introduce a "slop" factor to accommodate this.
