Hi,

I'm contemplating my move to digital. I don't want to buy an M8 because I think I'd be afraid to use it. So I was considering a small sensor camera, like the Ricohs, because they are pocketable, cheap and very good in manual use. But now I notice that a second hand R-1D(s) is just over €1000 on eBay ! That sounds like a price I don't mind paying for a digital rangefinder. But before spending the cash, I'd like to try it out and handle it for a bit. Does anybody in Belgium or nearby have one ? Can we meet up ?

I don't read PM here too much, but I'll check this thread from time to time.

Thanks !

Peter.

i notice the second hand R-1D is €1000-1150 in china , cheaper than rd1s

the one in excellent situation and upgrade the last firmware ,is often 1150

Hi Volvohagi,

Yeah, I noticed the R-D1s is quite a bit more expensive. I'll go for an R-D1 that's reflashed or reflash it myself.

Still looking for somebody in the neighbourhood of Belgium that wants to show off his R-1D(s) :)

Peter.

If you don't mind a trip to the area near of Bochum or Dortmund in Germany, no problem, PM me.

It's a great camera, Peter. You'll love it. Try and get one for under €1000, though. The sensor is massively outdated after all and with limited support now available you should count on the possibility of servicing costs (RF alignment sounds common although I've never had a problem with mine).

PM me your phone number/e-mail and I'll try and let you know next time I'm in Leuven.

Cheers,

Jeremy

Peter,

if you're still contemplating an R-D1 (although I've seen in other threads that an M8 is a possible temptation as well;)) I just got one from Germany via eBay for €1100. It arrived today and it feels great.

Anyway, digital or film RF, it may be fun to meet up in Leuven or Brussels one day to share experiences...

Marc.

I'm living in Brussels and just bought on RD1 from ebay UK, I hope to received the camera before the end of this week. It would be a very good idea to meet to take some pictures.

Just tell me when.

Best Regards

Nuno Cruz

It might indeed be a good idea to try and set up a Brussels RFF meeting. I'd certainly be interested (although with 2 little boys my spare time is somewhat compromised recently;)). Anyone care to take on the organisation?

If you guys don't mind somebody from Holland I'd like to attend also please.
At this moent I've borrowed a R-d1 and trying it out.
It is very nice but also a bit outdated and not supported. If I save a bit more money and wait maybe another 6 months. Prices might have dropped a bit more on the used M8 and I'll be able to buy ones of these.
But I do like the R-d1 also and I can buy it now. Hard decision, I'm not sure yet.

Cheers,

Michiel Fokkema

this is very belated, but i'll be back in Paris at the beginning of next week and would love to join in as well (R-D1 user)!

Grrr. I was bidding on an R-D1 being offered on Ebay by someone in Belgium.
2 days before the auction ends, it gets pulled....

Dangit. I was winning too. :(

Someone else have one on offer in Western Europe?

An informal Brussels meet-up sounds good. I live a few hours away in Nederland (but am English). I'm not using a digital r/f though !

Antwerp is sort of between NL and BE, and has a big photographic museum . . . ?

All ideas welcome....

Heck I'd be interested too for a meet-up, though I don't have a digital RF either.
Antwerp is only about an hour away for me, Brussels 1.5 to 2 hours.
