I own an M3 with a goggled 35 f/2.8 Summaron. Love the lens, but am not the biggest fan of the viewfinder with the goggles. If someday I were to acquire a different M-mount body with 35mm frame lines, will the rangefinder still be accurate if I pop the goggles off? Basiclaly, do the goggles only correct the field of view, or the field of view & rangefinder distances?

The goggles work on all M series Leicas.

The goggled Summaron can only be used with the goggles if you still want to use the camera RF. You could use the lens without goggles if you scale focus it. Also, the goggled Summaron brings up the 50mm framelines (which the goggles then optically expand to cover the 35mm view.)

We should work out a partial swap - I have an ungoggled Summaron, and would like a goggled one for my M3!

How can you prove that your lens appears no where in Google's database? I think this post alone will ruin that once it gets indexed.
Thanks for the info. Gives me something to think about if I want to buy a body with 35mm lines.
