Yesterday I scanned a negative with Vuescan by trying out the "own profiling"-method (setting the filmbase color).
The result came out quite unsharp and sharpening did not do anything at all, at least to my eye.
The scanner's own software does a for myself "better" job to create a sharper image. With a big "but": While I can scan the black border around the photo on the negative in Vuescan, the Epson V500's software can not do this and maybe the photo has a bit more artefacts.
How do you do it with Vuescan, using an Epson V scanner? It seems I don't get it right.
