Three more Cuba Galleries

Thanks for the comments guys
I used various lenses on the trip, mainly Nockton 35mm f1.2, Elmarit 28mm f2.8, Elmarit 21mm f2.8 & CV 12mm f5.6. All nice lenses, but having had to sell the M8 and some of the M glass, interestingly the ones I have kept hold of to use on my M6/KH are the 35 and the 21

Great shots, Nick.

My grandparents won a trip to Cuba in the 50's. My grandmother talked about that trip till the day she died. I would love to go there myself.

Beautiful photographs. I was in Cuba in 2003 and you sure did capture to beauty in the people, country and culture.

Nice! I noticed you use the 28mm Elmarit f2.8. Do you like it? seems like you do :) How does that compare to the Cron 28mm f2. Besides the obvious of faster and twice the price?

Hi MV8
Actually, yes, I really did like the 28mm Elmarit. It is the only Leica lens I have bought new (all the others being second hand). I bought it for the M8 as my favourite focal length on a 35mm camera is 35mm, and so 28 nearly equates. It was coded, nice and small and had good contrast. I cannot compare it with the Cron as I never had one (could not afford it).

I recently sold my M8, in part to pay for a 5D Mk II that has just arrived. I sold the 28 Elmarit with it. I still use film Ms but thought the old 28 CV f1.9 would do for that, and I kept the 21mm pre-aspherical elmarit to use on the M6 as my wide, whilst selling the other wides. My favourite M lens if I could only keep one for film cameras remains the 35mm Cron f2 (pre-aspherical version III). It's been knocked about a lot and lost its lens cap but it is a beauty. If I stayed with the M8 I expect the 28mm Elmarit would have got the most use

Loved the pictures. Makes me want to go to Cuba that much more..... Thanks for sharing. Really loved Havana B&W. I can never get those shots to work for me. How did you process the B&W?

Thanks Nick for the info looking forward to seeing more of your photos and also with your new camera.
Hope you don't regret selling your M8 :)

Lightwriter- Thanks. I either convert in the Raw converter on photoshop, or in photoshop itself, using the black and white (rather than the cruder desaturation) and playing with the colour levels in a way that usually, though not always, replicates a red filter (eg darker skies but lighter reds/yellows etc and high contrast).

MV8 - Thanks again. I am loving the 5D Mk II and using third party (Leica R, Olympus Zuiko and Contax) lenses on it. My biggest regret with selling the M8 is feeling I won't be able to post digital pics on this site anymore.
