anyone have samples of landscapes taken with 400H? wondering how good they it would work as a vacation film. don't really want to discuss other options, just wanna see photos to judge the 'color intensity'.

didn't really see much on flickr, i guess it's not the purpose of the film but was wanted to see some real samples.

I just returned from a two-week trip through Morocco. I shot only Fuji 400H, nothing else. There aren't any pure landscapes in the collection, but there are a variety of locations to give you an idea of 400H.

Anyhow, you can see the photos here. These are scans from the negatives done by Dan's Camera in Allentown, PA.

thanks a lot scott!
really like your set and it was exactly what i was looking for ... now i want a zeiss ikon again 🙁

400h seems to give very natural colors, but still giving some solid vivid colours.

Thank you, sir. As only a very recent rangefinder user, I'm still getting used to framing. But you can see the Zeiss Ikon's metering is spot on, and the rendering by the Biogon 35/2.8 and Planar 50/2 lenses is lovely.

And the Fuji Pro 400H is a long time favorite of mine. I really just like Fuji films in general: 800Z, 160C, Acros 100, and on and on.

best color film ever met, works great with huge summer light

Not landscapes, but these are 400H with ZM 35/2 taken last year.

(a lot of grain in the shadows here - anyone know why?)

You can see much larger scans on my Flickr in the Zeiss Ikon set.

It's negative film-and a favorite. I plan on using more. For landscapes, it doesn't give me the magenta cast that Reala does, and is kind to fair-skinned people.

grain in the shadows is a classic symptom of underexposed color neg film.

The bright window in the center of the photo "tricked" the light meter into underexposing the interior. Next time bias the exposure a little more towards the interior. Tricky metering like this is why I never use AE.

The film is lovely. Makes me want to shoot color film again.

Probably the best colour film I've ever used and a firm firm favourite.

XPan...

Jesus, i want an xpan so badly. I'd love to do documentary panormics with a camera like this. I bet you could get some amazing compositions. I love the cinematic experience that panoramics give. Films like Ben Hur and Lawrence of Arabia...

Very nice shot!......where was it taken?

My bedroom in St. Tropez 😱

It's a bit of a change - you really have to look at things differently, and the composition takes a lot of practice. Unfortunately, I don't use it as a 'go-to' everyday camera, otherwise I'd probably be far more used to it, but whenever it comes out with me, the results are spectacular...

As to the film itself: I've just decided on and bought the film for a trip I'm taking next week to South America. 80% of it is 400H, with a few rolls of Portra 800 and Reala thrown in for the extremes. That's how much I like it... 🙂

Thanks, I though underexposure might be the culprit. Live and learn.

I'd keep an eye open for an XPan II - just because the shutter-speed comes up in the display, and with the slow lenses, you can sometimes be caught off guard with a very long exposure...

It's there... buried somewhere in the crap 🙄

count me in too 😛

Geeeez... making so many new enemies today... 😀
